Jimmybwas playing good football but not nearly as good as Brock and the offensive output reflected that.

Why did you think Jimmy wouldn't maintain the same level of play after 2017?

Oh, so you don't have a reason to think that. It is just something ypu said because you are dug in on your Lance position.

Gore, Palmer, Baldy, Rapsheet, Louis Riddick, David Carr, Jack Hammer all have spoken about the comp and saying Darnold has a solid to good shot of moving past TL
minimally, Darnold will push TL to greater heights, just having that comp around

Also, realize BP is not healthy now, and TL has not been healthy in 2 seasons at all, he has been injury riddled

so Sam playing doesn't even require him beating out anyone, with our persistent injury problems at that spot

Brock should be healthy by week 1. Especially if the team is expecting him to participate at the start of training camp. It's just a matter of getting his arm ramped up and endurance increased.

if Brock isn't ready, it's really between Lance and Darnold. I think Kyle does have a strange crush on darnold, especially with all these confident reports coming from every direction. I still expect Lance to beat him out. If Lance doesn't beat him out, that's wild.

it's unique cause they have different advantages. Darnold has the experience, good and bad, while Lance has the experience in the system. What darnold has been good at, is what we ask our QBs to do. Lances issues have been mainly health, now he has that.

so it'll be fun to monitor. What I mainly care about is Brock's arm and healing progress, but the darnold and Lance thing will be a lot of fun to follow, especially who gets what reps.

it's a much better lineup than in 2017 - Jimmy, Hoyer, & Beathard. Lol dark days

That 1 pass last month seem to have meant a lot to some people. I get the sense these passes won't count again when the reports start coming in next month

I think Brock did a lot of the same "just hit who's open in his comfort area of the field"

the difference was when a play broke down. Brock wasn't rendered useless. He could make a play with his feet or extend that play. Gotta have that in todays league.

I was naive to this prior to the 21 draft. After watching the difference between Brock and JG I get it. Still think it has to be one of the last thing you gotta have and not the 1st though.

I think you got it right, but to me it's not even a requirement. Prime Brady/Manning would still be top QBs

The way college is going though, most if not all the QBs will be able to move. Brady/Manning is a dying breed because quick processing isn't really what dominates college ball. College tends to be more friendly to the Tim Tebows of the world. It isn't until you get to the NFL where the elite processors truly shine

Which pass are you talking about? The Mahomes workout?

And if those passes look good they certainly won't count to other people.

Just more anti Trey shtick because someone dared post a video of his motion.

What we have to do sometimes do is take a step back and realize that we are all on the same team here, myself included, it's why all of us spend as much time on here talking 49er football as we do.

id say that 95% of us actually agree on the same thing and view things similarly. It's typically our personal opinions and evaluations of a player/position that separates us. That and the way we explain it.

for example, NY and I tend to have different positions or perspectives on how to evaluate a qb or what makes a qb. I think that's alright and don't mind it, hearing his side/perspective just helps me be more open minded or think about things that I haven't. I think we are all guilty at times of falling in love with certain things and looking at it through a rose colored lens. That's why we post on here.

So you can't answer my question? My point is I've seen all this a couple times now. Jimmy and Kap. Sorry if I need more than a couple games to proclaim him something.

I have never seen Jimmy play at that level. Trey has played his entire career at that level.

I am not proclaiming him anything, I just think he can play the way we have seen him play.

this is accurate imo, if you look at TB12, there is an ability to move within the pocket, he doesn't throw on run like Rodgers, but he can navigate and step accordingly in the pocket, he also was elite at putting the ball in the dirt at the feet of his RB he would do that all day to avoid a negative play.. this is one TB12 trait I sincerely wish was passed to JG

Brady played the position at a special level, with extremely high football IQ, for his whole career. It was the little things he did or didn't do that usually made the difference.

I would say Jimmy played at a high enough level on a vastly worse team to get one of the largest contracts in NFL history (at that time)

I would say Jimmy was playing a high enough level for 4 games this yr prior to getting injured. I already gave you his stats from those games and it was pretty on par to what Brock was doing. The team overall scored more points though.

Kap was setting the league on fire and doing s**t that most teams have never seen at time.

im not saying Brock can't continue to do what he did. I need more than a couple games to be all in like everyone else. That's all

Not only that but he was also 6–4 230lbs with a big arm (not elite but far from a negative).
