In addition to CB Dee Virgin, QB Nate Sudfeld and WR Travis Benjamin, the 49ers have protected CB Dontae Johnson on the practice squad. He *seems* like the likeliest candidate to start vs. Lions if Emmanuel Moseley (knee) can't play.

Wait what was that one position we couldn't have health issues at?

Man, what's up with this dude? I had such high hopes for him coming into this season but he really hasn't played at all through training camp and preseason.

O Allright so Varret is good to go ? i thought he had some kinda foot injury . Thx for the correct spelling. well if either rookie cb's start they are going to get picked on big time i dont know who the Lions have on Off. but prolly going to draw some cheap PI or Holdings for sure. Hope Bosa and Ford can help mask some off the rookies mistakes btw can Street play at End or he is just Inside?

Street is an undersized DT, but his crazy strong. As a DE, he doesn't have the requisite speed to threaten good T's, but he should be effective rushing against G/C's.
Street is probably the 9th or 10th best D-lineman on the team, but he's also probably better than Solomon Thomas with a similar skillset.

Whether you agree or not, this Front Office prioritizes the front 7 at the expense of the secondary. And they have been able to do it, because the inherited two quality starting Safeties.
So when the pass rush is killing it, the secondary looks good (2019), and when it's not, our defense gives up big plays on the outside (2017, 2018, and 2020). As long as Bosa and some other player (Ebukam, Armstead, Key, Ford) can provide pass rush, we should be in great shape.

If they can't stop the run, then we'll just run like we did against GB in the playoffs. It wouldn't surprise me if we end up attempting less than 20 passes.

Some predictions/guesses vs the Lions
Trey Lance plays about 16 snaps but only throws the ball twice.
Dee Ford plays 11 strong snaps and has 1 sack and 2 QB hurries
We have 8 total sacks by 7 different players
Motsert averages 8yds a carry in the game
4 different guys catch at least 4 passes
49ers- 26 Lions- 6

Tbh, it's kind of an indictment that they go into the draft knowing CB depth is an issue, and Dontae Johnson ends up starting...
Meanwhile, none of the first three rounders will start.
