On Hudson, traded to AZ with a 7th for a 3rd, no thanks, we got Mack without giving up picks.

Plus he'd cost us $9.55M and $10.5M in 2021 & 2022.

What ya know the Raiders didn't just cut a valuable piece for nothing.

NFL Network's guys said Hudson wanted his release, cause he wanted more than the $20M he's owed over the next 2 seasons, so no way we were ever getting Hudson for cheap, and to have to give up a 3rd to get him, a 7th, and pay him $9.55M, Hell No.

Last year was not his best. His play dropped down a bit. He will be 32 by the time the season starts. He also has had a weight problem at times. He is listed at 300 pounds but looking at him last season he looked like 320.

Mack will be 36 and also comes off a down year, however, as others have said, his experience and protection calls will make a big difference. ...and then there is the $$$ difference.

I'm

Da Raidahs trading their whole OL away, lol.
I honestly don't understand why Hudson was traded if he was supposedly released.
Would've had to give Robert Saleh 3rd rounder for Hudson and pay him like 10m or so.
I'm all in Alex Mack as a bridge for a Creed Humphrey or any prospect of that caliber picked in round 2.

Bummer, was hoping at least 2 years

Probably better for us that we take it one year at a time for a guy his age. We can extend him before free agency next year if things work out. I doubt he'd have much incentive to leave.

Probably, want to see how he looks before committing to longer deal.

If he did get a full $5.5M, and not UP TO $5.5M, and Trent's yr 1 number is around $7.3M, I have the 49ers at $10,032,627 under the cap, BEFORE Dee's restructure, which I have to imagine freed up between $5M-$10M.

Edit: NVM there is a report it is one year. But your right it might be better for us considering his age.

Yup and they may even draft a guy to learn behind him then plug him in after. Or Mack just said he prefers 1 year since he's probably thinking retirement after

Just what I figured.

So $5.5M for 1-year + $2M rookie deal = $7.5M
Hudson (all pro) = $9.5M & $10.5M for 2 years (new long term contract cometh)
Lindsey (all pro) = $12M APY for 5 years

Plenty of wiggle room to make more additions or give Warner that extension.
So they got one extra year to groom another Center. If its not a center in the 2nd/3rd round, I'd be kinda shocked.

Pretty much. Can't be doing this crap 5 years in a row.
