QB Reclamation Project (backup QB)

Say 1 of 2 scenarios happens. 1: we draft a QB in round 1 and trade Jimmy G for a draft pick or 2: we do not draft a QB and keep Jimmy G What vet would you want to bring in knowing he may have to start until the rookie is ready or he'll be our backup for Jimmy G. Mitchell Trubisky Ryan Fitzpatrick Andy Dalton Tyrod Taylor Jameis Winston CJ Beathard Nick Mullens Josh Dobbs Matt Barkley or any other free agent Side note: Josh Rosen will also be on our roster All of the above are free agents. I was thinking about Sam Darnold but he is still under contract with the Jets and I think carries a $10 million dollar cap hit. No way we could trade for him if for whatever reason we had to keep Jimmy G. For me I'm intrigued with Trubisky. Yeah he just wasn't that good with the Bears but he did show flashes from time to time and has the athletic ability to get out of the pocket to extend plays. I think Jimmy G is better than Trubisky but I don't think he is miles better. If our team is relatively healthy and he is our QB for 2021 while the rookie sits, I think we are still a playoff caliber team. If Jimmy G is still around I think Mitch could push Jimmy or at least be a capable backup. My #2 choice would be Jameis Winston. Yeah he is an interception machine but with a good team around him, I think he'd at least keep us in games. Yeah I know I may be crazy and I do like FSU so there is that. Fitzpatrick makes a lot of sense if we roll with a rookie. thoughts? Mods move this if it doesnt belong in Niner Talk

If those are Jimmy's back ups and jimmy gets hurt.. it will be 2020 2.0

I guess I could have listed Dak Prescott. I don't know if the Cowboys can franchise him but he'd want a bigger deal then Jimmy has right now. Not sure if that would be the way for us to go.

Winston. Shanny's scheme should reduce his interception numbers, and he is the only one on the list who could be a longterm solution.

Urban Meyer would be smart to keep him. I've honestly watched very little of him but he'd at least bring the LOLs with him.

2. Jimmy takes a paycut and draft a QB.
either way Jimmy can not be getting paid the amount of money we are currently paying him.
