I'm surprised when I read someone saying that the Niners need to draft Trent's replacement. That's not going to be easy. Finding a good left tackle in the draft is hard enough. Finding one as great as Trent is nearly impossible unless you have a pick in the top 5. The Nners were fortunate to be able to trade for Trent when Staley retired. Joe was really good but not as great as Trent.

Eventually Trent will leave and the Niners will replace him but don't expect anyone of his ability.

No hate from McKivitz but he gets ragged dolled by Elite pass rushers. That doesn't mean he's bad. For the money he's well worth it. But we've already had too many memories of Brock getting punked and that is on the line including mck.

we have a pretty good track record of drafting WR Aiyuk and Deebo at there primes were top 5 to 10 Wr in nfl. Pearsall i understand the fustration but when hes played he was really good hes just had some bad luck i really trust KS when it comes to WR especially his type for his offense.

I do perfer a S in round 1 as well wouldn't mind an EDGE depending on the prospect. I also wouldnt mind a LG either.

There aren't 15 better starting RTs in the league.

So just to change the topic a little....who won the contract battle? Are we on the hook for more? But at a lower cap hit for each of the next two years?

Both sides got what they wanted. Lower the cap (by $20M) and we have him under contract in 2027. He got more GTD cash this yr and next yr.

We don't have to worry about LT until 2028

I agree. I honestly expected Trent to rake us through the coals but I think it's a pretty fair deal all around

I don't know he's getting an APY 25 mill, that can't all be guaranteed. Seems pretty reasonable for a 1st ballot HOF.

I agree he is getting older but he's remained at a AP-PB level 25M is very reasonable. That and we have the cap to pay him phat this year. I think it's a win-win all around, that being said I imagine he might want another restructure in 2028 but that'll give us time to see if he really can play into his 40s and possibly find his eventual replacement.

Something about Trent feels like he can and will play into his 40s so long as he doesn't suffer a serious injury, he might not be able to get to the next level destroying in the running game like he used to but I think he's got some gas left in the tank as a top notch pass protector

i see the issue i think there is a fundamental issue on how some fans see the draft you could literally do this for every team . To me that seems like a solid list at one point Jimmy G and Brock purdy were criticized because of how good our WR weapons were and they were all drafted

Anybody have some info on how the contract is structured and how much we're saving this year on the Cap? His Cap hit was supposed to be over $46M before the deal but I'm pretty sure htey managed to lower it around $25-30M at least right?
