The caved to Aiuke and he was awful and then injured.

If they cave to TW they'll set the team back years.

Lol. They are asking Trent to restructure and take a pay cut. This is not a situation of waiting for the team to cave.

Tunsil just reset the OT market. Would expect to see Trent asking for more any minute now.

This should have been in prep for at least a year. Again, poor planning by John and team.
And you know the likely hood of them reaching for a LT in the 1st rnd if they move on from him now out of desperation is extremely high and we've seen how thats worked out in the past.

Wouldn't be a reach as long as it's Freeling or Iheanachor - no thank you to Blake Miller in the 1st round.

Rip the band aid off - trade Trent for whatever you can get ... 2nd/3rd/4th rd pick ... and pass on a WR/DT in the 1st and just draft Max Iheanachor at OT. He's a really good prospect with upside.

If we do this we better sign Doubs in FA since we may have to pass on Cooper Jr and Concepcion in the 1st round. The main thing that would suck about this is we would be so desperate that we wouldn't prob consider trading down to the early 2nd to grab more picks so not to lose out on Iheanachor.

Trial by fire for new rookie OL

27. Max Iheanachor OT
58. Emmanuel Pregnon/Kaylen Rutledge G
92. Kendrick Law/Bryce Lance WR
127. Malik Benson WR
133. Sam Roush TE
138. Zane Durant DT
171. Trey Zuhn C/G/T
Wouldn't have a problem with either guy at 27
but it would still be a pick out of necessity because of their handling of the Trent situation.

Necessity is fine as long as it's good value where we are picking at #27. If Max Iheanachor didn't exist and we drafted say Blake Miller at #27 .. then I'd be unhappy passing on better talent like Cooper Jr, Concepcion, McDonald, etc.
If the Chiefs are willing to give their 3rd rounder pick #74 for Trent we should do it.

Can get a really really good player at that spot.

Let's move on and get out of that contract.

I love having Trent but this may be a moment where Walsh would say "trade them a year early". I think Trent has real good years left but if we are offered a great offer… at his age and his cap hit - we have to consider it.

Ppeople throw around that Walsh mantra but the difference is Walsh already had your replacement on the roster BEFORE he let you go. Cutting Trent loose without having such a replacement is irresponsible. I get they have him under contract another year but Trent showed in 2024 what priority number 1 is for him. The front office has to help Paraag out some.

Funny enough the one time they were in a better position to play hardball (with Aiyuk), they caved. I don't blame them because I understand why. They thought they were competing for a Super Bowl. Personally I would extend Trent- yes even at 38. Still top five and should give us another year of that level of play. And I'd take a prospect that can play LG and LT this year, no excuses.

Now if someone comes making a great offer for a trade, that changes everything.

You're being forced to draft for need.

You should never be in that position. The last time they did that after a trade, we got Javon Kinlaw

That wasn't even a need. That was just Shanahan and Lynch being dumbasses in the early draft as per usual.
The need was WR and Ceedee Lamb was right there for the taking

They did address the WR need- now how it turned out was a different matter.

Yes, he's not willing to take whatever pay cut Paraag has offered.

Hopefully they can find middle ground and he's willing to take a smaller pay cut and add a year of guaranteed money in '27.

Absolutely nothing to do with either one of them.

Blame it all on Paraag, right?

He's the lead negotiator my man. And this is about saving Jed's cash, nothing else.

We get minimal cap relief by moving off of Trent, but massive cash savings.

Who doesn't love Trent? The annoying thing is he cares more about every dollar than anything. If it was his first big deal I sympathize, but at this point if he really wanted a ring.. well damn... maybe that's why he wants out LOL

This is what happens when we don't seriously address the O-line. We should have addressed RT at least 2 years ago. If we don't get a LT with our 1st pick at 27 it would be roster malpractice. The refusal to seriously address the O-line has allowed Trent to basically hold them hostage because he knows there's nobody better. I don't blame Trent for getting all the money he can get. But Shanny & Co. should have addressed LT a long time ago.

yes, ive said the same many times.

Their cap is set though. They COULD pay him this final year.

Mckivitz is actually one of the better RTs in the nfl

Yes, I still consider him a liability against great pass rushers on obvious passing downs, but he improved a bunch last season.
I am good with whatever we do here because as long as we have Purdy all we have to do is move wisely. Get younger cheaper faster stronger and more violent. We don't need to be held hostage by aging mercenaries every offseason
