always gonna get screwed in a forced trade scenario

Yeah, but technically they're weren't forced. He's under contract. For whatever that's worth….apparently not much

teams generally don't keep players that don't want to be there. B.A forced the trade by saying trade me as well as by saying I want what i'm worth, not what your willing to give me.

I can't blame Aiyuk if that's his position. You should be paid for what you are worth. But as an employee you are paid for what the positon is worth, not *your* worth. Unfortunately for the 49ers the WR market exploded on them. Not their fault. I still think there is a chance to retain Aiyuk, but it's clear he wants more money and my optimism is really low now on keeping him - considering the current WR market. I still have hope though.

The market determines the players worth, but we are dealing with humans not computers so it is what it is. I do blame the 49ers for not knowing what was coming, the NFL is a business not a guessing game. We supposedly over paid Kap & Jimmy G because we knew the QB market would explode and those deals would look like steals, so we can't now turn around and say they didn't know. WE reset the RB market by extending CMC, so our front office are not victims here.

Now I wonder what this means for Trent? Without him we are just a regular team.

I don't know. Look, if they stink it up with s**tty compensation in return, I am with you. But, they played this thing about as well as they could. No one is clairvoyant, people can overpay, underpay, and get it right, and of course, get it dead wrong. I think the X factor is that we talking about people with egos; if anything, maybe they underestimated Aiyuk's need to feel like and be paid like a top guy?

Appears to be the niners are just being decent human beings. They could literally stop all discussions and go about their day. See you when your contract says we'll see you.

John and Kyle are much better dudes than I am. Probably why they are finding such success building awesome rosters

With ya 💯

KNBR just said the Pats put a late 1st on the trade (30s) but Aiyuk said he wouldn't sign an extension there.

He's in control of where he goes.

I know, I've been saying fir a while he has more control than people thought

People are operating as if the 49ers don't have a good measure of control as well. I'm tired of this sh!t. Time to sh!t or get off the pot. This has gotten ridiculous. We can pick up his 5th year option then trade him to the Pats, then let them franchise him his a$$.

Or, don't trade him. He either plays for us or sit out the season. We're treating him as if he has all the control. He really don't. The 49ers can control his right through 2025 at the very least.

Now, I will say that I don't think this is on Lynch. This whole mess is on Paraag Marathe. This has been mishandled from the very beginning. They thought, because they had more leverage, and because Aiyuk likely really want's to be a Niner, that they could play this level of hardball with him. I don't think that they anticipated that he'd take it this personal. Now, you can say that players shouldn't take this business personally but the fact of the matter is that they do, right or wrong. They knew a long time ago that they weren't gonna be able to sign him. This is what happens when front offices play this leverage game with players.

We can miss him all we want, but BA won't miss SF. BA didn't want to be a 49er.

lol

Lol superbowl run? I don`t think so when you have a piston missing(BA) in an V8 motor

Losing Aiyuk is going to hurt, no doubt about it. But if he's not going to play for you, or be a distraction, what can you do? The WR market exploded on the 49ers and Aiyuk's price became unaffordable for the 49ers. A lot of folks last yrar (AB81 and i were one of them) were hoping we could retain Aiyuk considering Purdy is paid peanuts, but that was before the WR market just exploded. I think that's one reason they drafted two WRs this year - the possibility of losing Aiyuk. Also Losing Aiyuk, they might be able to keep Deebo longer.

It just bothers me that Ayiuk is getting his way by being greedy and low class. If we give up principle and try to win, I just want a comparable receiver that keeps our super bowl odds the same with Vegas.

There is good logic to it. You want to demonstrate your ability to hold your own (assuming the compensation is close to fair in return), but also respect the player. Folks here won't like it, but it might pay big down the road.

Quick poll, by show of hand, if the niners raised the offer to 28 and Yuk took it, would that satiate all involved? Or nah...the offer is on the table, f**k him.

I would be fine with that. I want him to stay, but it seems he is intent on leaving so it is what it is.

This. It's pretty clear dude wants out at this point or he'd sing with us. Just doesn't seem like Pittsburgh has anything to give up.

Not sure what you mean. You advocating for the niners, or for BA? He's obviously not a niners fan…

just looking for clarity
I'm not sure why we are all surprised that tough decisions will have to be made and more to come. Just wait till Purdy's contract comes up. Even more cuts/trades.

A buddy and I were asking each other this question a few hours ago. He said 30 would be his final offer. I said 28.

and don't think BA would take either
