New Niners fan lol. I went to the game when Roger Stabach beat us in the last 3 minutes when I finally thought we would beat Dallas. I also saw perfection in the organization with Carmen and Walsh. I was a season ticket holder when they were at candlestick. We used to bash their bad decisions as well but yes the new Niners fans are the worst lol.

I actually liked the news groups back in the early days of posting in Niners group threads.

TW is wanting to be the highest paid LT with an extension and that then trumps Aiyuk along with the fact we can pay Ward and Lenoir and that we have paid CMC and Jennings and will be paying Brock

Aiyuk is right to play hardball to get his money and the team is doing the same and calling his bluff so business is being done on both sides and Aiyuk is gonna lose because the 49ers have too many options they can take and right now Aiyuk should be doing what Ward is doing. Show up get paid have a GREAT season and do this all over again next offseason

If Aiyuk keeps this up he's gonna be stuck having to play anyway or be deprioritized in the offense early on to risk him having a less efficient season and he then reduces his earning potential for the 2025 offseason

Him trying to go the Bosa route is NOT gonna have the desired effect and it sure seems the team is not trying to set the precedent and is regarding Bosa last year as the outlier

To me it's our FO's way of doing business. For whatever reasons they will not extend young stars early in the process. Like how the Rams extended Kupp and Aaron Donald. They did the same with Gurley, so there is a downside when the player just doesn't produce. Our FO doesn't seem to have any foresight to get ahead of these situations. This is 3 years in a row. They should've extended BA last year. No doubt he would've came in at a much more reasonable rate. And of course he'd be upset about all this new WR money, but he'd already be locked in. And they could extend him again later down the road. Instead other teams reset the market. The Bears just extended Moore who still has 2 years left on his current deal. Not sure why the Niners shy away from this. Maybe gun shy from paying Jimmy G so early in the process? Whatever the reason I still have hope they get something figured out, but the clock is f**king ticking.

But he needs that extra $2 million. Not to feed his family. To feed his ego. That's what this salary arms race is all about. To these players it's become a measure of how good they are.

Yea but I don't think any FO wants to go through this every year. I really think our FO was positive he'd sign at 26 mil with their current leverage over him. Surprise! He didn't and we have another cloud hanging over us heading into the season. Just a poopy situation

I think 30 is the lowest point Aiyuk wants to go. I think he's really asking for $32M or so.
Odds are that Lamb and Chase are going to sign for $32M-$34M apiece and Aiyuk will want to be near their salaries.

So I'm not optimistic anymore that we resign him. Maybe we just give him a raise for this year by restructuring his fifth year option (if thats even possible) to get him to join the team and practice. At this point, i don't anticipate we will resign him - especially once Chase & Lamb sign their deals. Hopefully I'm wrong but that's how I see it at this point.

or maybe we restructure Trent's contract when we give him more guaranteed money and use that space to help pay aiyuk.

If he wants $30M or anything into the $30s, he's not gonna get it here (or probably anywhere else) Chase & lamb are better than him and what they get paid shouldn't change what he's worth.

FWIW Chase isn't gonna sign this off season, based on how cheap Cinci is and what their owner said. That's a next yr problem.

What DJ Moore just signed for is right on par for what he's worth. Give him a little higher than that. The whole what if stats means nothing. What's he's done on the field is what matters.

He had one great yr and now thinks he should be paid as much as the tier1 guys. This isn't the QB position, that's not how it works. you can say you won't go any lower than whatever. Doesn't matter if no one is gonna pay that. Him sitting out into the season doesn't help his extension or his worth in a future trade. IMO it actually hurts him.
