Just seeing the news, Great pickup by the Texans. Underrated reliable wr with also good character, team leader type.

Patriots might regret trading him. Especially trying to get back and win the Super Bowl. I wouldn't rely on A.J. Brown the whole season, in his 1st year there...after his issues with a winning team last year.

Are you talking about Boutte? He has a history of causing drama and has a gambling addiction problem hanging over his head. He placed about 8900 bets in college and is under close scrutiny by the NFL because they know he has a problem. That's why, despite being one of their better players, they traded him for a bag of flamin hot cheetos and a fried bologna sandwich.

lol... yeah I missed ALL of that... I just remember watching his interviews in the past, and how he performed...and a recent interview this training camp, and he gave off that kind of team leader vibe. Looks can be deceiving.

Edit- checking Pats reddit, the fans seemed to love him. But some knew it was bound to happen because he was going to be a ufa next year.

Yeeeeah I'm sure he would be barred from the Stadium. Can't have any distractions to start the season... especially when it's from someone not even on your team lol.
Did he make the 53? Lol

Once sept 1 hits and he doesnt get paid - do we get immediate cap relief? Hes still tying up some cap space, i think

The longer he delays being reinstated and showing up for work, the longer he stays on the reserve / left squad list, the longer we continue to enjoy the accordion math delayed salary cap hits for his huge signing bonus Jed paid out to him. We will continue to roll forward that salary cap space to aid us in paying other players. BA made off with a money grab in leaving us and his teammates high and dry so good riddance to him. Dude has effectively retired from the league and we most certainly need to do a better job at head checks prior to picking some of our players

That is correct.

If he retires, remaining cap money becomes dead money which the 49ers can try to clawback from him.

As Johnny del explained, the minute he misses week 1 9ers can unquestionably come for the whole signing bonus.

JD was wrong on that point.

If he retires however, they can go after the prorated portions of his signing bonus for the remaining years on his deal (and a percentage of last season's).
Now that camp and preseason is over his ego has to be damaged pretty badly. Wonder if he accepted any responsibility yet or it's just the mean ole 49ers

Hes in breach of contract. Why wouldn't they be able to go for his guaranteed money?
