Fred Biletnikoff deserves mention. They named the TopWR award in College after him. Playoff top performer and SB MVP.

I agree. Every WR mentioned had some sort of slight weakness and/or short term issue.

Jerry and Larry were prototypical models for the position before, now and the foreseeable future.

Jonny's video from today, although it might be a clip from a previous recent podcast.

So yes the 9ers have incentive to keep this going. Serious incentive!

Jonny, and others here, feel Goodell would want to help the NFL owners (his bosses) to set an example of Aiyuk so other players don't try this again. I don't 100% agree with this, because I do wonder if it will be worth the potential long term trouble. You would think Goodell would want to stay far away from it and do what ever is expected of him. Do what has been done in the past regarding other players and timely decisions.

We already know Brandon (and his team) feel something wasn't consistent with his treatment regarding the players union. Who knows, BUT if we have the 9ers, Goodell/league office, and players union potentially working together... or that's alluded to, then Brandon would have lawyers wanting to represent him for far larger case. Be it if they win or a settlement.

Now the good thing is, as far as distractions, this won't affect the team... this is all behind the scenes stuff. If Goodell doesn't want to f**k with this thing, then again this doesn't affect the team. Brandon gets cut or whatever, no cap recovery...but team moves on, and lessons learned hopefully.

The fact that Aiyuk hasnt even applied for reinstatement tells you everything you need to know.

Now if he claims he applied for reinstatement, and the NFL ignored him (vs. pointing out to him that in order to be reinstated he needs to resolve his warrant per league rules), well yeah there would be a huge issue for NFL.

Based on everything we know (which is not everything), there is only one person responsible for Aiyuk not yet being released: Aiyuk. There is no conspiracy, it's just one guy who I think doesn't want to play anymore

This, I remember the BA workout vids, those were the days. So, he is acting out partly cause his injury is worse than he is letting on?
I definitely think this guy is done in the NFL. He was rusty when he played for us last before the injury after he decided to bail on tc. I can't imagine how he would be now, even with the injury not really being a factor.

And that, TO worked his ass off, he could get away with all his s**t cause he was just so good.

TOs work ethic was unquestionable. Him getting back to play in the Superbowl that year he broke his leg was insane.

TO was also one of the best WRs off all time. No question he is a top 10 wr in NFL history in my mind.

Aiyuk wouldn't be considered anywhere near a top 10 wr of the past 10 years, let alone all time. He was a very good wr in his prime. The history books will remember very little of his onfield performance

TO is a top 3 WR of all time. He's just not 1 or 2

Rice
Moss
Calvin Johnson
TO

5 is a toss up between, Andre Johnson, Fitzgerald, Julio Jones, and Steve Largent.

I love you showing the always forgotten Andre Johnson the respect he deserves. My top 5 is Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron and Larry.

So underated. Never got a chance to play with a good QB.

Schaub had a couple good seasons before injuries consumed him. But yeah Johnson would have been even more dangerous with more consistent QBing. Had he gone a few picks later he could have ended up in New Orleans and potentially spent most of his career with Drew Brees.

This conspiracy stuff is bizarre to me. There is zero long term damage from recovering every possible bit of cap space from Aiyuk, and nobody needs to (or will) risk a conspiracy for a football nobody, which is what Aiyuk is at this point. The dude quit on, then sh*t on, his team and teammates. Even Jaydon pretends to not know him. Goodell may not be in any rush to reinstate Aiyuk for a variety of defensible reasons, and the NFLPA will do what is required of them if Aiyuk makes a claim, because that is what unions do, and everyone will live with any resulting ruling.

If Aiyuk has been wronged, he better have some smoking gun documentation (which seems highly unlikely up to this point) because he is a nightmare of a client, and the rough equivalent of a victim of a single car accident in his own very expensive driveway.

The damage would be if he's reinstated we'll have a massive cap hit. This is a unpredictable wrench that can be thrown

Wrench in what? He is either reinstated before the dates Jonny Del outlined or he isn't and we can't file his paperwork for him, so we wait. Either way there is zero long term damage from trying to recover everything we can from him.

Are you worried that Aiyuk will go outside the process and file a suit in federal court if things don't go his way? That would be the only wildcard, because most everything follows an established and agreed upon process. (the amount of time it takes Goodell to make his decision being a possible exception). It would appear to be a pretty crazy lift at this point.

Who exactly is the quality attorney who would be chomping at the bit to spend a bunch of time representing this unlikeable guy (probably on contingency) in a long-shot civil case who fired his quality agent and bad mouths everyone who ever tried to help him?

Even if he won in a few years (federal suits take time) do you think the NFL would retroactively hit the 49ers with salary cap changes? Seems unlikely a federal judge could force that on the league.

The real wildcard would be if Aiyuk does not get reinstated, then files a federal suit, and basically forces the Yorks to countersue and bankrupt him.

As soon as he reinstated his contract goes back into effect. We will cut him which will lead to a dead cap hit.

There is nothing wild about that card. It either happens or it doesn't, and there is an important date in the very near future by which it has to happen or Aiyuk is probably in big trouble.

Right Sept 1st voids his bonus but his contract is still on the books as soon as he is reinstated. I don't believe there is any timeframe for him to do that which is the "wild card" and a dead cap hit we have to be prepared for
