You never say never in this life but the fact Aiyuk hasn't even applied for reinstatement seems to indicate he has no interest in playing football anymore

That's true, David. Much like the trade talk in 2024, the Commanders stuff has likely just been a negotiation tactic by Aiyuk's team.
Aiyuk has no team

IMO Aiyuk hasnt filed for reinstatement because he thought the Commanders was going to do it for him. In his mind he thinks he doesnt have to do anything but in reality all roads lead to him coming back to Santa Clara and doing the hard part, meeting with John Lynch face to face. Maybe if he had an agent he could get around it. I never thought players needed agents but if you arent the sharpest tool in the toolbox then maybe you do need one.
I dont think he has said anything since training camp began league wide. Maybe he's just now realizing he did indeed FAFO.

you really need to find a new schtick
No chance.

That's just one beat writers opinion. They were also saying there was no chance of Deebo returning not long ago. As David Lombardi pointed out, if Aiyuk had really wanted to go to the Commanders, he would have filed for reinstatement.

I do hope this starts to break Brandon Aiyuk's clinical delusion.

As soon as Aiyuk started using the Commanders by name with his social media s**t... it was already over. So what other reason does he have/had to keep this going?

Maybe this has been posted here before, and if so, my apologies. But I was thinking about the Aiyuk situation and I had an idea that made me question my running theory that he's either mentally lost it or maybe became addicted to pain killers when he got injured. But what if he were insured for injury by a private insurer after he signed his big contract with the Niners. Would that policy not pay out if he were able to resume his profession? My new speculation is that maybe he was faced with a choice of doing the hard rehab to get back out on the field, or alternatively, not fully recover and be unable to resume his career which would be the insured event that might trigger a payout. So, under that theory, he might very well be sane and simply prefers to take the proceeds of an insurance policy on his body rather than work his butt off under the supervision of the Niners in rehab just to get back on the field and get beat up again playing a sport he doesn't really love. This theory would make sense out of his bizarre choices to not even have the NFLPA challenge the Niners' rescinding a lot of his bonus money. Maybe he has just decided to cash out on a policy that wouldn't pay if he could play again. Not stating this as fact, just putting it out there as theory.

So players can rehab on their own, but they still have to check in with the team when asked to do so. He refused and he ghosted the team. Why? Remember last year months ago when he put a small video saying something along the lines of, nobody is going to trade for me when rehabbing an ACL. So shortly after this when all that drama started happening.
He caught wind the we were possibly looking to trade him, team wanted to come in and check on his progress, so he gets all butt hurt and decides to stop showing up and taking their calls.
But where he f**ked up was that he thought the team will just straight up cut him on demand. Once that didn't happen, he started going crazy on SM. Now his ego and his pride won't allow him to do what needs to be done in order for him to get cut.
Oh well. He's the only one suffering from this.

Isn't it the niners who get their $$ back by insuring his injuries? I guess Aiyuk could've taken out a separate policy
