People overrate big time here. Happened with both Aiyuk and Deebo after one good year; was laughable with Jimmy, and even I did it with Huff. It happens; fandom, we all fans of this team

What are you guys even talking about here. Yuk improved drastically year over year and was well on his way to be becoming one of the top WRs in the game. Made a huge leap from 21-22 and then an even bigger leap from 22-23. The guy had ridiculous talent and insane route running and most importantly he suited the f**k up and played. Easily the best WR we have had since TO.

Textbook contract year. Never gonna be a clearer case.

Lol contract year case? Dude improved every single year. Everyone is just butthurt ( rightfully so ) at what he ended up becoming but acting like he wasn't good is ridiculous.

Not really. He had a solid rookie year, literally got benched because he was not working his 2nd year (improved in 2nd half of year but was rumored to be on the block he was so bad), in 22 he was decent to good, in 23 he was good to great, and in 24 (when he was healthy) he was average at best.

Never once could even the biggest homer say he was some type of dominant #1 wr.

He did improve every year. I am not counting 2024. When was he benched in year 2? With that said, I do agree he was never a dominant number 1. He is a guy that eats because the defense is focused on so many other guys.

If you're basing your opinion off numbers only then you have somewhat a debate

but, BA was cooking every DB that was out there constantly. The only issue is that we didn't have a QB to throw to our WRs consistently.

there are many vid, clips and arguments in this thread showing that the numbers don't show how good he was

Early in 2021 he was in shanahans dog house due to work ethic/consistency/etc

Not saying he wasn't good, he was. As for 2024, I mean it sure seemed like he reverted to his early 2021 state. He wasn't ready to play, didn't stay in shape, etc. who knows if he'd have rounded back into form or if that was the new normal after being paid
BA got better and better each year till contract year and lost his mind after a lil money.

This. Unfortunate the situation unraveled, but he was a very good player who continually improved throughout his rookie deal.

Even without the drama, the injury was devastating.
He peaked at the 13th best receiver in his best year to date. He followed that up in 2024 with an extremely mediocre seven games. He is not a true number one guy, just a talented number two. I had no idea the guy was so dumb until he started with all the trade nonsense. He's letting the team off the hook with his behavior though, so there is a bright side to the situation. If he never plays again, the Niners can get $18 million or so back from his guaranteed money. Sucks that he fell apart like this. Money does weird s**t to folks sometimes.

This.

And did he go crazy or is he just an a*****e? I think the later. Like someone said earlier, this dude canceled himself. He really did. Especially, after the s**t marks about Kyle. Buried himself. If I had bought his jersey, would use it for a puppy pad lol

Argument could be made that a geriatric Boldin was better than Aiyuk. He was on a trajectory, but when Deebo was opposite, he was clearly the number 2 fiddle and even Jennings made bigger plays (other than the NFCCG face mask bounce catch from Aiyuk) than BA ever did.

Could he have made that leap the year he signed the contract if not for his blown up knee and the clearly misaligned mentals? Maybe. Hell, probably. But if "ifs and buts were candy and nuts then I'd be a fat little boy".

That's just ridiculous. As far as Aiyuk and our other WRs, he was named All Pro for a reason.

Again... Aiyuk and Deebo are in the top 15 list of 9er recieving yards. With less games played tha most on the top 15list.

Deebo has played in only 2 more games in a 9er uniform, than Crabtree and has more recieving yards. And that's not counting Deebo's contribution running the ball. Deebo has 40TDs total + 1 passing TD. Crabtree has 25 TDs total in his 9er career.

Aiyuk has played 10 less games than Crabtree in a 9er uniform, and is only behind him by 22 yards and one less recieving TD.

13th best WR based off what?
BA was a damn good WR. Nasty route runner and tough as s**t. Was asked to run the hard routes out at split end and became a good blocker.

He had a real chance to become a really really good all-around WR, especially in this offense and based off who was now on this team. He was gonna be a big part of this offense.

He chose to be a whiny b***h, lose a bunch of money and never have the career he could have…he really has no one to blame besides himself. Stupidity ruined it all.

Using stats from previous years is not a legitimate comparison because the way the game is layed, the way the rules are modified, etc make simple comparisons like yards, catches, etc meaningless.
