Agree Kyle f**ked up by vouching for Aiyuk. Should've just traded him for what we could get.
Now Aiyuk is lashing out because he's upset he hasn't been cut. Wants to quiet quit via Instagram and get his way without having to do anything face to face.
Just bad all around

what are ALL THE RED FLAGS ? a lot of his holdout negotiation tactics were similar to other 49er holdouts and other WRs in the league
one more time, literally no one would predict what happened because its unprecedented and unheard of. 99% of players holdout due to money (business and not personal), and once they get paid they are content.
I've never seen any other WR post practice videos of another team as a negotiation tactic. The other WR 49er holdout requested a trade AGAIN after getting paid. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice…….
Call it what you will, maybe I'm too old school, but if a player requests a trade and does all that other stupid social media crap and antics; yeah, I don't want that on my team. Those are red flags for me and screams diva/drama queen.

So what BA is saying to every team is that the 49ers made a bad investment. In him! I can honestly say that any employer that I have ever had made the BEST investment in me because I outworked and out performed my peers. They all were sad when I left. In my day I took pride in being a good investment and mister dependable. I always wanted to make myself indispensible and I did that for the most part.
Getting paid $50M for 25 catches is a flex I guess for him but to me I would feel like I have been an underperformer and I would be looking to redeem myself at the earliest opportunity even if it is not with the 49ers. He needs to tuck his tail and report to 49ers HQ and face the music with the police then the team and then get released so he can carry on with his antics elsewhere. He has to force our hands or else we will enjoy the accordion math already baked into the cake of his signing bonus at no additional cost to the team. We will let this play out for the entirety of his contract unless he comes and forces our hand

Agreed. Hes right on this. Signing Ayiuk to a big contract was the worst decision this front office has made, and they made some bad ones. Ayiuk was never a top wr in the game, Shannahan just made him look like one.
He said the word 'stupid' but that's not really the point. The point is the top of the 49ers front office and KS were not on the same page with the extension, and there was regret and subsequent repercussions because of it.
All the focus in this thread is almost exclusively on Aiyuk. How crazy he is, he has CTE, he's fat… hanging on every stupid social media post like everything revolves around, or is related to, this situation. There has been very little discussion about the team's management of both his extension and what happened afterward.

I agree with you. There weren't red flags.

Hey BA. Have fun posting rants about the 49ers. We are literally enjoying them. WR room is stocked and better than ever and uh tell me how that a$$ taste? You are gonna be posting until you show up at 49ers HQ to see those lil boys you seem to have so much to say about

That is the most ironic part. He's talking s**t about the niners as little boys, but he is the one ghosting team/his teammates and posting on social media only rather than being a man about it.

It's not just whether Kyle made a mistake by jamming this deal through. It's the look at the inner workings of this front office that have been revealed through this situation.
Start with some very basic questions: who was it that Kyle had to leap to get this deal through in the first place? Doesn't Kyle have final say over the roster? Kyle reportedly lost some level of say in personnel matters following this extension, does someone else fill that void in his place? There's many others.
To me, Kyle and John's public statements have been pretty unintentionally revealing throughout this ordeal. Wish someone with access would follow up. Instead we have Grant Cohn who's too dumb to notice a real potential controversy while he's busy creating them, and a lot of company men outside of him (at least in terms of the local group).

You guys think all the social media stuff; requesting a trade; and videos aren't red flags? How would you classify it? Normal negotiations?
I'm in the camp of negotiating a contract the way that Fred Warner; George Kittle; Purdy etc.. does it. That's when I would say "There weren't red flags"
How you guys can say there were no red flags is completely beyond me but to each their own.

Oh I 100% agree on the front off negotiating structure. I don't know how it got to late August like it did, or if things would've played out the same if it didn't.
Niners should've seen how he dogged it in year 2 to the point where he was talked about being another Pettis until shanahan got in his ass. Then Aiyuk admitting he made it as difficult as possible. In hindsight they should've just taken what they could've got from Pittsburgh. Oh well, mistakes were made

Negotiations are a two way street. Why wouldn't he request a trade if the other party to the negotiation ghosts talks for 3 months and won't budge off an offer significantly lower than his market value? Aiyuk exercising leverage is not a red flag.

I think they meant before extension but I would argue year 2 was a red flag, although he seemed to get over that hump but I guess not
