AB is the primary salary cap guy. Typecast is also a good contributor.

Aiyuk made just south of 50 million in 24-25, on his current deal.

The team voided future guarantees - what he was due this season going forward.

He got a $23m signing bonus, a $22.855m option bonus in 2025 then he earned a $1.125m base salary in 2024 and a $1.17m base in 2025 which totals $48.15m in what he got from 2024-2025 for basically 7 games with us pos extension.

AB, why don't the 49ers go after some of the signing bonus/option bonus since he essentially refused to return to play?
Because you don't want to wake a sleeping bear

Story from the front page

https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/200824-nfl-insider-offers-advice-brandon/

"If I could advise Brandon Aiyuk, I would tell him to show up for work," Garafolo said. "I would have told him to show up for work a couple of weeks ago. Go ahead, see if they're willing to let you work out and run routes and do things at their facility that, if you're injured, all of a sudden, those guarantees are back, and your money is on their books once again.

"He did not do that. He has not done that. He's got a lot of pride. That's kind of where we are, why we are where we are, because it was strongly suggested to him that he show up for everything he needed to show up for last year during his rehab and team meetings, because they're going to take those guarantees away.

"And he didn't listen to those warnings all along the way, and now, he's at a point where the team is controlling things rather than him controlling things."

Some around the league have suggested the 49ers are essentially holding Aiyuk hostage by refusing to release him immediately, knowing a trade is unlikely. San Francisco reportedly will not keep the receiver beyond September 1, when his option bonus becomes due.

Complicating matters further is the belief that interested teams have also struggled to contact Aiyuk, making a potential trade even more difficult.

"Again, Aiyuk could put an end to this tomorrow if he wanted to," Garafolo continued. "He hasn't been willing to do that. I don't know why, if you're Washington or anybody, you'd give up a pick for a guy in this situation, when you know what's happening.

Bold part is weird.. you would think the team would want to avoid that/block that.

but the rest...seems that, as much as the media/some fans try to convince otherwise, Brandon actually does have control of this situation. He doesn't want the FO getting anything for him in a trade. He wants to control where he goes next, not settling for a trade to which ever team works out deal with our FO. Be it post Sept 1st..
I think that is what he is saying.
Show up ready to work out, and watch the 49ers just cut him at the door before he even walks in.

So actually, his agent didn't leave him or tell him to get lost or anything like that. He still represents him and BA refuses to follow any of his advice so I guess stupid is as stupid does.
Rumors are coming out that he was warned his guarantee $ will be pulled if he continues and still acted a fool. I was under the impression we suddenly pulled his guarantees and that was the nail in the coffin but if he was warned?? This just gets stranger as it goes

He got 48mil already, probably around 20-25mil after taxes. That's a lifetime amount of money if you're not stupid.

for only 7 games of service... hell get good money in his next contract and will get to choose where he wants to go. All and all he will make it out fine after all of this...besides his reputation, but folks know in this league...for many teams, that gets forgot about after he makes some amazing plays..

I'll bet you right now there's no team (including WAS) that will give him more than a 10 min dollar contract, which won't even be fully guaranteed.

His amazing plays are also 2 years of back to back ACLs injuries.

Dudes buying jewelry, lambos, pushing 100+ mph in a 25 and booking private jets. He'll be broke by 40 if he keeps it up

Yes...hell even 8mill..

That will mean he made $56-58million in three years... with only 7-23 games of service. And he'll work under a Front Office of his choosing. That sounds like a f**kin' great deal to me.

Again I just feel we were better off not micromanaging the situation. Let s**t go that was during the offseason (like we have in the past for other players).....just let him play well in 2025... then after that season work out a trade of a team of his choosing for 2026. We would have got a high pick for him. Instead we allowed ourselves to get caught up in this game.

Just guessing, I would think like a one year 5-8 million dollar deal with performance incentives.

I can see BA asking 20M and throwing a huge btch fit when he's only offered 5M, good luck Washington

Because you don't want to wake a sleeping bear

I don't think that's it, they're likely waiting till they release him to go after his signing bonus, as for his option bonus that's not subject to forfeiture unfortunately.

Most athletes aren't smart with their money though, so he may end up screwed if he never gets another big deal or has something to fall back on after his career is over.

What I meant is.. BA is gone, no point in trying to get money back from him right now to wind up giving him a reason to comeback and create a s**t storm
