If he doesn't show up, I wouldn't do anything.

Wouldn't we have to start paying him again?

Not if he doesn't show up and it doesn't look like he is anytime soon.

We paid him last year when he didn't show up.

He did show up in the 1st half of the season and then right when we needed him most going for the 1 seed we took his guarantees away because he wasn't taking his rehab seriously. You do bring up an interesting point though, there is ample evidence that he intentionally did not show up to work for no good reason. Why should the 49ers pay him during that time frame?

The guarantees were taken away during training camp in late July 2025 after he stopped showing up to required meetings and team activities. He then started showing up. Kittle talked about seeing him in the facility. The beat writers were talking about him working on the side fields and preparing to be activated. The entire time Aiyuk had left, Shanahan was still leading everyone on about Aiyuk being week-to-week and still had a chance to open up his practice window. The voiding of the guarantees simply didn't get reported until mid-to-late November because the team was leaking the situation.

Are you sure? I feel like that would have be reported at that time if that were the case. If that did happen at the beginning of the season that'd make the situation even stranger, still showing up knowing we voided his guarantees then disappearing mid season. I wouldn't put it past Aiyuk doing something like that though
During training camp, the 49ers voided Aiyuk's guaranteed money for 2026 because he had not been meeting the requirements of that deal, a league source said Friday. The Athletic first reported the contract alteration, which includes an option bonus worth $24.935 million. That bonus originally became guaranteed April 1 of this year and has now been voided.
