Hey clearly violated the terms of their agreement which made it possible for them to void all his GTD cash. The fact that he didn't fight it at all kinda backups the idea that he was in the wrong.
Instead of coming to do his job which means getting healthy with the team's resources. He chose to ghost the team. He's lost a ton of cash that he will never recoup. He could have done his job and helped this team down the stretch. The fan base and FO would have forgave him if he did that. Instead he did the opposite….it's wild for many reasons, I mean Lynch's BF is both their agent. Awkward
It's one possible explanation, but I don't think it's the most likely one. It's important to specify they voided his future guarantees, which would be offset to some degree by a new contract with another team.
I think it's pretty clear he wants to move on from the 49ers and control his own destiny, whether that be playing for the team of his choosing or ultimately walking away from the game. Would you agree he has zero interest in remaining a 49er?
The offset wouldn't be remotely close, especially after breaking his knee in half. You don't lay over when someone takes $30M from you, and with a union to back you up…unless you have "no leg" to stand on.
no one in their right mind would allow that type of cash to slip through their fingers, especially with all the negation BS they had prior…JUST so you could play ball with your buddy.
this has nothing to do with if he has any interest to play for SF….It setting a precedent that you can't just basically steal money from a team and force your way out after the fact.
No one forced him to sign the deal. You can now come into camp play ball for SF (show teams you're healthy and ready to play) and help with making a trade work OR you can do nothing, go AWOL, and not get paid or play football….you could call that controlling his destiny, but it's not the option he mostly wants (SF releasing for nothing).
