Did you forget about the part to where a player that has left the team doesn't count against the cap and doesn't tie up a roster spot. The rule was negotiated into the CBA to protect ownership in this instance. We need to hold his right until he's too old to play or he reports and plays again under the Niners terms as someone had said. Before he played again I'd make him come see John Lynch even if it's just so we cut him thereafter

They're going to release him and we'll see if they decide to take the full cap hit next season or designate it post 6/1 and spread it over the next two years.
