Once upon a time a lanky kid names Brady went up against a gunslinger in Warner. I wonder how that kid did.

Watched the condensed version of this game. It's not apples to apples, because our defensive personnel has changed a lot this year, for the better, and Dee Ford was harassing us rather than vice versa. But it provided a glimpse of what the matchup could look like. Unfortunately, we got owned in the first half 35-10. Mahomes was carving us up pretty easy, hitting Kelsey and Watkins a lot. So much of our defensive personnel has changed, though, so I imagine we'd do a lot better this year. Second half we stormed back a bit and got the offense going, so that when you look at the statistics it looks like we were even, despite the final score. Breida ran well, Kittle caught a lot of balls. It's vivid how much better our receivers are this year with Sanders and Deebo. This is the game Garappolo gets injured, but it does occur near the end of the game, so the stats on passing are not really skewed. Also very noteworthy, which I bolded in the stats, we were penalized 100 yards more than KC, 14 times for 147 yards. This made a big impact on the game. Probably KC fans are overconfident because they watch this game, not appreciating how much more upgraded our roster is this year at key positions.

I call BS. Nobody in their right mind would predict an even matchup like this to be a blowout.

Isn't bleacher report the same idiots that said there is severe discord between Lynch and Shanahan, and Mullens would end up replacing Garoppolo about 3 weeks into the season?

We should compare the Montana vs Young game.

I talk about that below, but it's the only simulation we have. I truthfully don't know how much the Chiefs roster has changed. They have Kelce, Hill, Watkins, Mahomes. Our defense and WR groups got substantial overhauls for the better. But if someone wants to see how the Chiefs and Mahomes will attack our defense, there it is.

Our defense was so much worse last year. So was our offense. Plus another year in the system for both the offense and defense young guys who grew up. Key free agents added, key draft picks, getting guys back healthy from injuries. There is just no way to compare this. Our team is so, so much better than that pile of garbage that played them in 2018. They just couldn't even hold a candle to this group from 2019 - 2020. I see no way to compare that at all.

I agree with most of this up to a point. It was our defenses second year under Saleh, so it wasn't completely new to them. Buckner, Armstead, Thomas, Warner, Sherman and Ward were all on the field. Our pass rush has obviously been massively upgraded with Bosa and Ford, which makes our secondary look better this year. Reuben Foster was out there. As much of a jackass as he was off the field, he did fly around and make some stuff happen, similar to a Kwon Alexander replacement. Tartt wasn't playing for some reason. Hurt, I guess. So, it really boils down to how much difference Bosa and Ford make. Their presence has been pretty huge, but it will need to be, because Mahomes had no problem evading pressure and picking us apart. On the offensive side of the ball, we are just executing a lot better, have more quality RB depth, and the Deebo and Sanders additions are huge. I think it's going to be a very good (unfortunately nail biter) game. Vegas line is probably pretty legit.

I think we are more massively upgraded than then. They were in the AFC Championship game last year against the Patriots. So I think they were about this good last year. Our team is massively different. First of all the 2018 team obviously would not be in any Super Bowl. As they clearly were not. But if we did go in with that team would be get blown out and rolled badly. With this team it's so massively upgraded at so many key positions. Also another year of guys getting continuity and growing up. Even Jimmy G having his first healthy and full year as a starter. That's a big deal too. People forget how he really is like a young QB in STARTS at least. He was like an infant starting QB last year. He grew up some. I like Jimmy G but at least at this time I do have some concerns about him. I hope he doesn't make too many turnovers. His fumbling problem actually concerns me more than interceptions. Sometimes he gets sacked and fumbles. I hope he doesn't do that deep in our own territory. That would be disastrous. Also make the throws down the field but be a little careful. This is the Super Bowl. We don't want to get -2, -3 or more on turnovers. We have to keep that area tightened up to have a chance.

So now the Texans and the Titans are better than the 49ers?
Jeesus, the disrespect for the NFC is unbelievable.^^
You have teams like the Rams and the Cowboys that can´t even make the PO.

Just watched the highlights from that game. Ward was on the field but he started at CB, Not FS which he has been playing this year. Sherman did start at Cb but from what I could tell he got hurt at some point and Witherspoon came in for him. BTW from what I could tell Sherman really gave up nothing when he was playing. Foster and one of the other three linebackers # 48 played terrible. They were missing a ton of crucial tackles, especially early in the game.

So we are talking about a game where are 2 safetys were two guys who are not starting for us this season. Hell they might not even be on the team. One of our corner backs in that game is now playing FS for us. Are best CB went down at some point in the game. Two of the three starting linebackers who played terrible in that game have been replaced by different players. Then add the fact that we were without both Bosa and Ford who are two best edge rushers. That is not some small difference in the player who were playing that is a huge difference. That not even mentioning that game was like a year and a half ago. That game tape is practically useless at this point.

One things for certain is that the team we fielded last year wasn't the team who'd be able to go into NO and beat them at their peak, nearly sweep the NFCW, crush a 13-3 GB twice, nearly beat BAL in BAL in the midst of a gauntlet, survive a week 4 bye week resulting in 13 weeks straight of football, then cruise to the Super Bowl. Completely different team this year and KC could not have done what we have done THIS year which is why they haven't been in a lot of people's top five all season until NE fell off at year end giving KC the Bye week and BAL got knocked out.

The top 5 teams have been NE SF BAL NO GB SEA and now all of a sudden we get KC is gonna win it all. They haven't had the year we've had not have they been through the gauntlet and came out of it. They were very lucky NE lost that bye and now they're going to play the 2019 SF squad and we're no joke!
