🏆 SF 49ERS vs KC CHIEFS PREGAME THREAD - SUPER BOWL LIV 🏆

We have not opened our playbook at all. We have not had to throw the ball but that just means that whatever Kyle has schemed up over the past several weeks, he can still use and use to great effect.

Chiefs have had to pull out all their stops, down in two playoffs games, down 24 a couple of weeks back. I know that they have tape on our season but Kyle hasn't just been sitting idly by during the last 3 weeks, everything it at his disposal and the Chiefs have tape that is a month old to study in regards to our passing game.

That is a tremendous advantage, they will not know how to gameplan for the passing game.

Chiefs being behind tells me their defense isnt as strong as they think it is. I dont think we've been behind in any playoff game because of our strong defense.

The Dallas game (where the Dwight Clark catch took place) there were several lead changes in the game and neither team was behind by more than 7 points. And that was because the Dallas Doomsday defense was in its heyday, and our defense was ascending.

If the chiefs think they can fall behind and then catch up against this defense, they are making a big mistake.

We have let some teams come back though.

These numbers spell it out pretty nicely. We run it down their throat and we will push them out into the parking lot. Their run defense sucks.

I hate to quote Troy Aikman, but I loved what he said last Sunday....Take their manhood.

I'll take a win any way I can. So yeah, run it down their throat, play keep away, cool that offense on the sidelines, and rest our defense.

Shanny is a genius when it comes to the game within a game.

Yup. The early Steelers game come to mind. And we've fallen behind also, but with a good defense you dont ever fall behind by too much. Down 20+ is too much and will remind kyle of his last super bowl loss.

In Dan Marinos case in '84, our offense kicked in our 4 minute ball control run game in the second half, and that killer bee defense collapsed because they couldn't stop our run game.

The run game will put away the chiefs if they fall behind.

Look dudes. You should welcome all of the "Chiefs are unstoppable" talk. It's a perfect situation for the Niners. You don't think they hear that? And should the Niners win... it will be viewed in the media as an all-time great achievement.

Agree. Better to go in disrespected by pundits and under the radar. Same thing happened in Super Bowl XIX versus Miami with Dan Marino. He set the league on fire that year and got all of the love going into the Super Bowl. Niners pass rush dumped him on his ass and he was thoroughly outplayed by Montana. Afterward the team acknowledged they were fed up with all of the Marino hype. Same kind of gushing on Mahomes, disrespect of Garappolo, going on, and I think it's a good thing in terms of team fueling the team's motivation and defusing some of the pressure of the game.

Yeah. Hes so "Shandalf" that he doesn't need deflate gate or film-gate to beat you, like some other NFL coaches have to do to eek out a 1 or 2 point win.

Playing Devil's Advocate, if their run defense sucks, how come they were able to stop Travis Henry even after they fell into an early hole on the scoreboard. I would have expected that if any team could squeeze someone to death with a lead it would be the Titans pounding Travis Henry. Maybe the Chielfs play bruisers better than speed backs like we have.

Just a guess, but if you have a one dimensional run team that cant pass, you can afford to sell out on the run to stop the run, and force them to pass. If they cant pass on your defense, you got them moving backwards and now you can catch up and pass them. Have to watch the KC-Titan game to verify, but that would be my guess.

Damn that's good s**t
Hopefully Trump starts stumping for the Chiefs.

We need 3 things: Prisco, Florio, and Trump to back the Chiefs and then I like our chances!

That Texans game was an epic meltown on their part more than an epic comeback from the Chiefs. It took a failed 4th down attempt on their own side of the field (with a huge lead) and a muffed kickoff for the Chiefs to score points quickly. As long as the 49ers don't make many mistakes, it will be much harder to mount a comeback. Now, we just have to get them to spot us 24 points...
I really want the 49ers to win this game, they been through a lot the past 3 years, and won games by inches and losing games by inches....I think it would be a wonderful football story that inspire people in life in general, to reach there dreams...I been loser for many years now, and this team taught me to never give up. and im tire not doing nothing about it...Lets Go 49ers bt regardless if they win the super bowl or not, this team is my favorite 49er team..
Really hope 49er fans show up big at the game and get loud for our guys.

Can't have KC making it a home game. I'm worried since they haven't had their team in the dance for 50 years they'll be more likely to make the trip and get loud(we know they can do that)

I'm assuming you mean Derrick Henry....Travis Henry is a different dude.
They were able to stuff it because TENN went away from it. They only ran Henry 3 times in the 2nd half. It wasn't like they completely stifled Henry but Henry wasn't just running through gaping holes either. The bigger problem was that Tannehill and the Titans couldn't take advantage in the play action game. With Deebo and Kittle - 2 guys who've been monsters off PA, there will be opportunities and anyone who believes Jimmy doesn't have much better arm talent than Tannehill needs to rethink their choice of chemical additives.

With the run game, teams have to commit to it, even if you're down. The moment the Titans went down by anything they abandoned the run game with Henry. We also have a more varied rushing attack. Henry is a between the tackles zone monster but our run game will go between the tackles, counters, traps, power, jet sweeps, reverses all sorts of things that defenses have to account for because we have speed to run through your defense or around it.
