I've long said if you are going to give most the reps to Nick in preseason, and Jimmy hasn't played in so long, Nick will be our best chance to win at the start of the season. You want to give Jimmy confidence. With Mullens' stats identical, you don't need to rush Jimmy.

Did I mention Jimmy missed too many passes, one of which looked to me like a long pass and run for a TD? I say Mullens hits that roll out easy pass.

Jimmy needs game reps. It does no good to have him sit.

You can't replicate that in practice.

Shanny disagrees with you. He'd be happy with no preseason games.

Here's my point. If you don't trust your qb to call pass plays, you have the wrong qb in the game.

Look, Jimmy is our quarterback. There is no disagreement there. But right now his mental processes art not up to speed, and Nick's are.

I wanted more sacks, but the defensive pressure definitely help create TO. Kwon, lost was big, he was hyped up big time, but rookie Greenlaw was solid for his 1st start. Bosa was worth that 1st rd pick. Kittles was big time in a shaky offense.

Come on now.

What are you talking about!? He would have thrown for over 500 yds and 6 TDs.

He would have missed that easy roll out pass to the right, that probably would have gone for a long TD? No Way!

I think our best quarterback today was Mullens, and he would have given us a better chance to win. I suspect the same will be true next week. I can understand trying to get Jimmy confidence playing through it, but question if practicing well couldn't do the same thing.

When you don't trust your quarterback in play calling, you are playing the wrong qb.

I know I'm in the minority, but if the coaches cliche is "who gives us the best chance to win", then give Jimmy more time.

Uh, we won, so...

You must be awesome to be around at parties.

Jimmy's got the potential and has shown it before when everything clicks. Mullins jelled with Kittle but there was a reason our WRs had pedestrian numbers, he doesnt have the arm strength to attack the sidelines. JG at his best is miles ahead of Mullins at his best, they have to do everything they can to bring that out through good and bad. Only when its become obvious that he cant recapture that 5-0 magic would you consider Mullins, but that would take at least 3 games straight of looking like he did in Denver. Games like today just show rust, not complete failure.

Why wasn't the bucks dude ejected when kwon was?

This??

Cause when Kwon did it, it seemed intentional. The other guy, both players where flying around.

Kwon pretty much nailed a dude in the head that was sliding lol no reason for that to happen.

Sorry I don't agree with your assessment.
Your key words:
"Seemed intentional"

Both were making a tackle and you lower your head as a natural reaction.

If your gonna toss one player out, need to be consistent and toss the other player out.

And how do you get Jimmy's up to where they should be.

You do that by playing in games. You can't replicate that in practice (which preseason games are).

Playing musical chairs with the QB position never works. You have to commit to the position with one player.

Jimmy will be fine. This was his first real football game in almost a year (preseason is not real football).

That's not what Shanny said. He said 0 is better than 4, but 2 is best.

The only way Jimmy is gonna get his mental processing back up to speed is to play. Stop thinking short term. Do you want theoretical wins in 2019 with Mullens (which is highly debatable), or do you want possible sustained success for a decade or more.

Go back and check out Brady's 2002 season. He played great down the stretch in the 2001 season and post season replacing Bledsoe, but not so great in 2002. But they let him work through it, and then they won two more championships. Even then those first three SBs for the Pats was more defense and clutch QB play rather than top statistical QB play. It was still several more years before Brady became consistently awesome in the regular season.
