Maybe the 1 year deal was a team decision?
Your questions intrigued me enough to attempt research. It was mildly surprising when Denver cut him loose after one season. I thought it was surprising when Washington did the same with Deebo.
The one headline that made me stop and think was:
Broncos Double Down on Culture After Dre Greenlaw Misfire. Hmm. OK. So what does that mean? The writer is trying to say something. I just can't say what it was. It sounds like the Broncos gave Dre's FA money to two other guys who "fit the culture." Does this mean they are better than Dre? Or did Dre have a hard time with adapting to a new defense? Sean Payton did say he loved the "passion" that Dre brought to the Broncos. But not much beyond that. Then there's another hint that Dre did not
live up to expectations.
Because Dre was injured for half of the season? As 49ers fans, we are used to that with Greenlaw. He hasn't been able to stay on the field. When he's healthy, he's awesome. But, he does get hurt. A lot. One thing is for sure. Dre signed with SF for a lot less money. But, it's only a one-year deal. So, perhaps Dre will give FA the old college try again after the end of the upcoming season.
