It's actually just basic logic. If you have 30 inch arms, but 15 inch hands, how effective is your reach really going to be? In most situations, you won't have your hands fully extended if you're trying to use them. It's why you can't just go off of arm measurements alone.

If you don't think that measurement matters, stand facing a wall and push on it with your hands flat against it and your arms extended. If someone was pushing against you in the same way, if they had a longer net arm length, you wouldn't be able to reach them.

It's a good thing pass rushers aren't going against a wall

You're acting like he has 30" arms that's the dumb part. 33" while not "elite" isn't bad either. There are a f**k ton of successful pass rushers that don't meet that 34" arm length that everyone creams in their pants over.

Like hero stated heavy hands and technique are the backbone of a good edge rusher. Bosa has that in spades. Toss in good bend, f**king power, and explosiveness...that's a damn good pass rusher.

I have no idea why you try so hard to throw shade on him then when you get called out for it you get all defensive. We get it you wanted QW (who has short ass arms and even smaller hands). Let it go...

I'm not throwing shade at Bosa lol. I wasn't the one that brought up his arm length. I said I don't think his arm length (net or otherwise) is going to prevent him from being productive as a pass rusher. I don't even criticize him that much. I just pretend his flaws don't exist, but I'm as excited as anyone to see what he can bring to this team.

The most important measurement for defensive linemen is actually net arm length. That's the measurement you get from subtracting the length of the hand from the length of the arm. Bosa has almost 11 inch hands which means his reach is nearly 1/3rd hands. That's not great, tbh. Most elite pass rushers with shorter arms also have smaller hands. I don't think it'll stop him from being a productive pass rusher, but it's something to watch in preseason.

You left out "in my opinion".

Is it not implied that every post is the poster's opinion?

This is implying its a fact.

"The most important measurement for defensive linemen is actually net arm length."

This would be an opinion:

"I think the most important measurement for defensive linemen is actually net arm length."

It's not like I'm the only one saying this about you
Didn't know Bosa was a lefty like him even more
Net Arm Length = Arm Length - Hand Length?

How's that work exactly, since the hand length measured at the combine is from side to side, pinky to thumb with the hand and fingers extended?

In order to get the net length you've got to subtract the length of the hand from the length of the arm.

In order to get the net length you've got to subtract the length of the hand from the length of the arm.

Then you can't use combine measurements for hand length to determine it. It must be eyeballed, in other words, a guess based on pics.

Did someone say... Barney?

There's only one Barney and he is only allowed to carry one bullet, and that in his pocket.
Barney Bosa lol
Oh for the love of God. Really? He gets signed so we can't complain about a hold out so we have 5 pages about arm length.

I swear, if he gets 15 sacks this year some of you will still complain he didn't get 18.

...and still cry about not drafting QW, and how QW will have a better and longer career that will prove them right.

No kidding. At least training camp is here, so we'll have something real to discuss for the first time in awhile. No more talk of T-rex arms.

In other news, it looks like Bosa is expected to be medically cleared for Saturday's practice. That's good.

That's 3 would be sacks the qb slips out of his grasp because he's missing that .5 inch from his arm length
