My feeling is he's going to pull an Andrew Luck this offseason and say "I can't keep rehabbing 80% of the time and playing only 20% of the time. I'm done. Peace out!"

If that is the case I hope he does retire.. however I think he will play enough to try and get one more payday.

What every year saga? Remove the ACL injury seasons (two) and how many games has he actually missed?

I think that since the team is 6-0, the O - line is better than expected, the secondary is better than expected, and the draft is looking great, people are SEARCHING for something to be mad about.

The real issue isn't how many games he's missed. That's just part of the problem. I'm more concerned about the number of serious injuries he's had going all the way back to high school. Eventually all those things catch up to you and you performance starts to drop. He hasn't had a highly productive year since 2023. He's missed a lot of games (22) in the last 3 seasons. He may be fine when he comes back but given his history I wouldn't invest much in a new contract. They can't afford to pay him $30 million+ with that history.

Now this is fair. It'll be interesting to see what the negotiations are like this time around. The 49ers have much more leverage now. He isn't DPOY and hasn't had an elite year since 2022. And we have the emergence of guys like White, Halton, Williams, etc so we aren't desperate. Bosa or no Bosa long-term, I think they should draft a DE somewhere between the 2nd -4th round. We need a true three down guy due to Bosa's history.

Hoping this doesn't get messy but if it does, the 49ers should stand firm. I think he'll be a 10 sack minimum guy in any healthy season, but that's just it- being healthy.

I do wonder what a fair number looks like. Considering top end guys are getting deals in the 40s now, is the number 25 - 35 million APY now with some protection against injury/games missed?
Smart to rest him until after bye. I'd honestly wait till Cowgirls game. He needs to be healthy down the stretch. Looked incredible first two games but after a 3rd ACL injury he can never play full seasons, would be lucky to get a half season out of him...it sucks but he is a gamechanger

There is zero chance Bosa accepts anything than the maximum.

He has been a dimishing player since his last big contract. Now he has 3 ACLs.....i am not giving him anything he would see as acceptable.

At this rate it will probably be half a season. Just hoping he is fully healthy for the Playoffs and active for all those games. Regular Season we may just have to get by without him most of the time.

History says you are correct, but we'll see. Bosa can demand all he wants, but what team is GIVING him the max with that history? If you are talking about his injury history and being a diminishing player, that doesn't scream top of the market player. Again, WHO is going to give him the max with his history the last 4 seasons (including 2026)?

i can see a team giving him the max for sure.

If he asks for the max i would move on there is a chance ( a small chance) he gets healthy and plays all games next season but either way it isnt worth the risk. I would rather spend that money elsewhere. All the more reason i would look to get an EDGE in draft
I'm watching the Aints game and I remembered one more reason we should not trade for Olave. The padded helmet looks way too dorky. He looks like a lmushroom (Ditto Dobbs in NE)

I don't always agree when fans label a player as injury prone but in Bosa's case it fits. He's had 4 major injuries that required surgery dating all the way back to high school. He's also had some minor things that caused him to miss a game or two or just hampered his performance during the season. Too many surgeries to be relied upon in the future.
Availability is the issue.

Our pass rush is mediocre - sometimes good like against Denver.

Bosa isn't worth a big Payday - maybe a deal could be struck for less $$ but who knows.

His trade value isn't great either. Wait and see how the season shakes out.

Hope for the best - Plan for the worst.

I said last week it's really up to Bosa. I can't imagine any team really paying him much. Assuming he wants to stay here maybe a fair deal can be reached.

Bosa has only 10 sacks in 3 of his seasons. He hasn't hit 10 since 23 when he had 10.5. The production just doesn't match the salary. 2024 top paid DE. 2025 6th highest DE. 2026 10th highest DE. Production isn't even top 20. He has had 2 exceptional years (21,22) 2 good years (19,23,24) Personally I do not think based on the fact that he hasn't been anywhere near 21,22 in the last four year and will probably never be anywhere close to top 20 production going forward. Some of our big contract guys keep producing, Williams, Warner, McCaffery, and to a lesser extent Kittle he had a tougher year last year. We bought way High on Bosa and didn't get the return on investment. I love the player, but I really think we need to move on after this year.

When healthy he is amazing. His impact on the game is big. The problem is he can't stay on the field.
They'll have to address his contract even if we win the super bowl. Pay cut or cut him. Won't be easy but Lynch can't play favorites when it comes to not answering the bell. $54 million cap # next year. Can't have that. Trade an 'ascending' player or draft pick to take on that cap money? Hasn't it been done before? The ascending player would be Green.
