Sack numbers of course aren't everything but what about at least hitting the QB.
He is a good player and will be missed but he is not elite. We never had a pass rush before his injury that was worthy.
Top 5 at his position arguably 3 of his first five years and a DPOY. Closes out games but he is only good? No.
Kerry Hyder was good. Bryce Huff is good. Bosa has been great this year and looking very much 2019-2022ish.
He actually was dominant at the beginning of his career.
I said 2019- 2022. So yeah, great from the very start.
Unfortunately its 2025.

His pass rush closed 2 games. We literally had ZER0 hits on the QB today. ZERO!!! Trevor didn't even have to shower.
but Bosa isn't elite? He may not be the best but he's up there. When the offense dictates that Bosa needs 2 blockers, I'd call that elite.

People think Sacks is all there is to determine if a DE is elite or not. Pressures are just as important and Bosa racks those up every game. He is constantly getting the QB off his spot. Not to mention how good he is vs the run. People probally thought Jackson had a great game a couple years ago when he had 3 sacks.

I think it's just pointless semantics exercise.
At the very worst Bosa is a top 10 pass rusher and a top 5-10 complete defensive end. At best he's a dpoy caliber player.
He and Warner are the only guys the opposite team cares about and will gameplan around.
They are also the only two guys with any accolades on defense.
As much as people love good stories, random JAGs can't be just plugged in, especially at a position like DEs who need to win one on one in four man rushes.
I like Sam O and his hustle, but the truth is Sam O was a fringe player for the Titans whom they let go. No one is gameplanning against Sam O or YGM
This is very different from the secondary where a good zone or scheme or teamwork can mask a lot of talent.
Niners just started two rookies, darrell luter and journeyman pinnock in the secondary and did well all things considered. You just not gonna have that with ends going against good tackles.
It's one thing to finish a game or two where an elite (or whatever you want to call him, not interested in semantics) player goes out. It's different knowing that player is out.
The impact is huge. Some people thought it wasn't going to affect the defense and they are dead wrong.

People have really underestimated Bosa's impact.
In the 49ers' first game without Nick Bosa, their defense had no sacks and no QB hits for the first time in a game since Sept. 20, 2015, against the Steelers.

But he doesnt lead in any major categories including secondary ones in the past 2-3 years.
He gets paid elite money to not kinda get there but to make momentum changing plays on a regular basis. He just doesnt. He disappears.
Yesterday Etienne ran through this defense as Purdy gave them 3 extra posessions. Is Bosa a stud run stuffer......

Yes he does. He's top 5 in most categories outside of sacks, including pass rush win % and pressures.
You clearly don't read numbers well lol

So TFL and sacks he is where exactly in 2024........Lets ignore that. He is paid to make momentum changing plays not almost.
