Drake showing up big. Bosa gets 0 sacks where tj got 3 and 2 forced fumbles. Let's see him earn that money.

Despite what people think it takes time to get used to the contact and physicality of the game no matter how great a player is in shape. He'll be fine.

Ehh it's not just bosa to direct it to, hargrave was absolutely invisible all game until garbage time as well. We bag on armstead all the time on here, but he had more impact than Mr big paycheck hargrave in the middle today.

Jackson came up big today. I agree it's foolish for us to think bosa would come in and be good with no practice. He is going to need to make it at least until week 4without getting injured for him to get back in shape.

Good post BoldRedandGold!

Hargrave wasn't a factor on any play that mattered.
alright big guy

get some strip sacks next week
Played more than I thought he would. Probably won't hit his stride until week 3/4.

Bosa was doubled on almost all passing downs. This is why everyone else fed.

LMFAO at everyone criticizing Bosa for any "lack of production". He was the reason everyone else got their sacks, we held the Steelers to zero 1st downs almost the entire 1st half. What a great game! Our D looks so fantastic, and we now have an offense to complement.

I said this a lot during the contract negotiations: it's pretty hilarious how much casual fans don't understand how important your number one edge rusher is.

Your number one edge rusher is the second most important position in the entire sport. Why? Not because he might give you 1-2 sacks a game, but because of how disruptive he is and how much the opposing offense has to change their game plan because of him.

Drake Jackson got three sacks, but here's the kicker: I guarantee you he doesn't have that many with a mediocre pass rusher playing on the opposite side instead of Bosa. A player like Bosa just opens up opportunities for the rest of the defensive line. I'll have to watch the game again but I can assure you Bosa drew a ton of double teams. Sometimes that's all your number one edge rusher needs to do for a game.

Also, our defense gave up 7 points. The Steelers' gave up 30. Do you really care if your star edge rusher puts up a sexy box score like Watt did if you're just going to give up 30 and get blown out anyway? Give me the result that results in fewer points allowed, thanks.

I was wonder why Him, Armstead, and Hargave were still in the game with 2 mins left...
Bosa was very disruptive early. I think he might've looked a little rusty towards the middle on, but his presence absolutely made a difference.

To be honest, the only reason Pittsburgh even scored 7 is because Lenoir gifted them tons of yards and free first downs on that drive.

I also think Wilks got too soft on D at the half too, but ultimately we should've stopped them if Lenoir hadn't screwed up.

Long story short, I'm not worried about Bosa.
Not a fan of the whole "vs" thing in the NFL. I have a tough time believing that if you lined up Bosa against McKivitiz he would've have had a TJ like day.

To me, if Bosa has a quiet stat line but the other guys on the line are productive that's working as intended.

The whole reason we invested so much into the entire defensive line is that if the offense focuses on shutting down one guy like Bosa that should give other guys favorable matchups and they need to capitalize on it much like Drake did today. You need to put offenses in a tough spot of if they put their resources into stopping Bosa other guys eat and when they try to slow those guys down it gives Bosa better matchups.
I cant recall a snap where he was one on one he seemed to always have two guys on him and that allowed Drake to go off

Not saying you are wrong, but if you replace Watt with Bosa, we still drop 30

Indeed. But if you swapped the 2, Bosa woulda gotten 5 sacks vs McKivitz.

Getting reps and getting used to each other maybe. I know it's a injury risk but they were probably making up for lost time.
