These WR deals have bitten the 49ers in the... Seems they have a hard time getting contracts to end in their favor.

If the reports of the Cap hit are correct, we got the short end of this one. Sent him where he wanted anted for a 5th, and the worst cap hit possible.
Disappointed doesn't begin to describe it.

I've got to go watch David Lombardi to make me feel good about this one. Not the fact the 49ers lost Deebo the money part.

The cap hit could not be removed from the books in light of the restructure.

Aiyuk do you remember that one? Paid him the money then boom (no fault of his own) out. And IMO I don't think he will even be up to par this year when he comes back if he comes back.

If you want to understand the financial strategy/benefits for the 49ers of trading Deebo Samuel, read this...

The money part doesn't matter. SF was on the hook either way cap wise. So eat the cap space this yr and be done with it (and get a pick) or spread it out between this yr and next.

I can guarantee now unless they find a wr on the level of Jefferson or Chase they're not paying a wr top end money. I just feel they also panicked and went off the past with Deebo they had to know his playing type wasn't going to hold add the fact he was never a good route runner and it was going to get worst. Then as good as BA was was he really worth 30 mil? I also think their lack of consistently finding good WRs in the draft played a part of over paying

I think the 49ers would have been better with Allen has part of the trade instead of the 5th rounder if that was offered and they turned it down.

Allen would have come with a $16 million cap hit. No thanks.
