When you look at nfl top WR the thing Deebo and Terry Mclauren have in common is the lack of elite QB play. He's one who's had even more questionable QB then Deebo. Adams, Cupp, Hill have an elite thrower.

Here's my contract thought. Give him more years unguaranteed. If we approach Cupp 5/110 but only guarantee around 65-70mil, that'll leave 49ers with two option years at the end. By that time Deebo could be a 30-35 mil per year player, a bargain at 25+ annually. If he gets hurt or regresses, we release him.

mclauren will need a new contract sooner. Potentially another even bigger one

He was number 2 in the league in receiving yards and number 1 in the league in ypc before adding on a rb role to his work load. Taking on that other role most likely hurt his total in targets, catches and receiving yards. Also, if Kyle could have gone with anyone else besides Deebo to give this team a spark, why didn't he? I'll tell you why. Because Deebo is the only WR on this team that could take on such a role and sustain that level of play week in and week out.

We witnessed that In 2019, and to some extent 2017 when we traded for JG. Kyle's an excellent coach, until those pesky 4th Q of crucial games, but that's a different topic all together. . Let's just hope we find a way to extend him.

So if we didn't have Deebo, who would have picked up the slack at rb with the injuries we had last season at that position? As much as I admire Kyle as an offensive coach you can only do so much schematically. Especially when your down to your 6th round pick at rb who also missed time due to injury. If the passing game as a whole was running on all cylinders, the drop off in the running game may not have been as big of a deal. We may not agree, but imo, without Deebo, we don't sniff the playoffs let alone make it to the NFCCG.

I don't look at It like that. I see It as Kyle finding other ways to be productive with the offense. Whether that be on the ground it through the air. We've seen the run game get stumped In the past, only for Kyle to find new ways to win. Let's not Ignore what the defense did through the final 9 games either. They allowed an average of 18 points per game ( Impressive ). No doubt that Deebo was by far our most productive player of 2021, but I see this team as too talented not to make the playoffs. Let's not forget the Packers game too.. without ST and Defense, that game would have been over by half time.

Don't worry fellas KS will scheme up the combo of Jennings and Sermon to replace Deebo's production.

If it weren't for Deebo's 3rd and 7 run to get us in field goal range we probably don't win that game against the packers. ST's did finally step up and was a reason that we won the game. I agree with that. Defense didn't play bad but the film shows that the almighty A Rod missed a lot of plays in that game. He kept holding onto the ball looking for deep shots instead of taking the underneath stuff that was there all game long. But this thread isn't really about defense or ST. This is the Deebo thread and we are discussing Deebo and the offense as far as I am concerned.

It's almost as if we don't have the best TE In football, a promising Aiyuk and Kyle's ability to produce one of the best ground games in the league. As well as one of the best defenses out. I'm sure we'll be fine.

Even with these numbers, I would still take Deebo over Terry for the simple fact that Deebo has put this team on his back and won important games for us.

Deebo's a better player down to his versatility, but I would say that Terry Is a better receiver. I also think Terry has more longevity due to Deebo's style of play.

Terry can have have a long productive career and never even sniff the playoffs let alone a SB. Good for him. Deebo is the type of player that gives you everything he has every down and has played a significant role in getting us to and through the playoffs. I would rather have Deebo for 6 years than Terry for 16.

You think Deebo would sniff the playoffs playing for that mess of a team? I'm happy with Have Deebo too, especially since he seems perfect for Kyle's type of offense, but let's not take anything away from Terry either. It's crazy to think that we could have had them both.

Did you not see Deebo carry this offense last season into and through the post season? When Jimmy and the run game weren't getting it done who is the guy that Kyle leaned on?

You think that would be possible without Kyle? What If Kittle was Injured? Deebo played a huge part but let's not get carried away. The rest of the team did their thing too.

Really? All 3 phases of the team were very inconsistent throughout the season. Deebo was taring it up at the wr position in spite of the offenses shortcomings. The offenses shortcomings was the exact reason why Kyle started to put Deebo in the backfield. When Deebo became wideback, the offense started to take off. The question you should be asking yourself is, would Kyle's offense have been good enough to still make the playoffs if Deebo wasn't here to take on that wideback role?

All 3 phases we're Inconsistent to begin with, yeah. They all Improved throughout the 2nd half of the season ( except ST ) and honestly, I think Kyle would have found another way to win games If Deebo had been Injured. He's worked around a QBs limitations for 2 years. What makes you think he wouldn't be able to do that without a key receiver? Kyle already mentioned as to why the offense had Issues early on. He's what some would consider an "offensive genius" after all

I am not questioning Kyle's offensive aptitude. I am simply saying folks seem to refuse to give Deebo credit for which he deserves for what he did for us last season. He was number 2 in the league in receiving yards and number 1 in the league in ypc before adding on a rb role to his work load. Taking on that other role most likely hurt his total in targets, catches and receiving yards. Also, if Kyle could have gone with anyone else besides Deebo to give this team a spark, why didn't he? I'll tell you why. Because Deebo is the only WR on this team that could take on such a role and sustain that level of play week in and week out.

Of course. Deebo's Is a big part of what we do on Offense. We are simply a better team with him, than we are without him. That's not to say that I think this team would struggle without his production. Kyle always finds a way to move the ball on offense but utilising his best players. We witnessed that In 2019, and to some extent 2017 when we traded for JG. Kyle's an excellent coach, until those pesky 4th Q of crucial games, but that's a different topic all together. . Let's just hope we find a way to extend him.

So if we didn't have Deebo, who would have picked up the slack at rb with the injuries we had last season at that position? As much as I admire Kyle as an offensive coach you can only do so much schematically. Especially when your down to your 6th round pick at rb who also missed time due to injury. If the passing game as a whole was running on all cylinders, the drop off in the running game may not have been as big of a deal. We may not agree, but imo, without Deebo, we don't sniff the playoffs let alone make it to the NFCCG.

I don't look at It like that. I see It as Kyle finding other ways to be productive with the offense. Whether that be on the ground it through the air. We've seen the run game get stumped In the past, only for Kyle to find new ways to win. Let's not Ignore what the defense did through the final 9 games either. They allowed an average of 18 points per game ( Impressive ). No doubt that Deebo was by far our most productive player of 2021, but I see this team as too talented not to make the playoffs. Let's not forget the Packers game too.. without ST and Defense, that game would have been over by half time.

If it weren't for Deebo's 3rd and 7 run to get us in field goal range we probably don't win that game against the packers. ST's did finally step up and was a reason that we won the game. I agree with that. Defense didn't play bad but the film shows that the almighty A Rod missed a lot of plays in that game. He kept holding onto the ball looking for deep shots instead of taking the underneath stuff that was there all game long. But this thread isn't really about defense or ST. This is the Deebo thread and we are discussing Deebo and the offense as far as I am concerned.

Teams aren't giving the big RB paydays as much anymore.. too high risk with all that contact.. now it's big WR paydays.. of course, we use our WR like a RB.. ah, KS... the usage is problematic if we want him on the field.

Does Deebo even want to be utilised as a RB anymore?. Kinda odd he feels this way about the contract situation. There must be more to this than how much money Is involved.

Think about this. You are a star performer at your position at work and your boss asks you to increase your work load with extra manual labor. With the extra manual labor, your primary role at your titled position diminishes a bit. But you are a team player and will do whatever you are asked to do. Than when its time to negotiate a new salary, they low ball you at your primary position because you did exactly what they asked of you even at the expense of your primary jobs performance. If this is the case, I would be pissed also if I were Deebo.

Yup. That's how I see it too. It's not that Deebo doesn't want to be utilized like a RB. I mean that's part of his brand now. He just wants to be compensated for his multiple roles in the offense. Or something was said by the FO that rubbed Deebo the wrong way. Who knows but I doubt that the 49ers would stop using him as a RB.
