His first game vs the bears to his last game vs rams. How did he improve? How much deeper did he get in the playbook??

Kyle's use of RBs out of the backfield. I want to understand the McKinnon contract a little more.

He'll do unorthodox stuff like a split 6 front and other things on 3rd downs. During last offseason Ahmad Brooks said there were a total of 10 playcalls on defense. Is that accurate? Once Jimmy came on board we almost forgot about the defense. It'd be cool to get some in-depth insight into the defense.
So, being in the middle of the off-season slump and only the highlight of the draft to keep us going - and that's nearly here and gonna be gone by this time next week. We're going to be starved for stuff on our beloved niners.
I'm itching to watch some film again but not sure where to focus my attention to and was looking to revive the film thread but wanted to get an idea of what we, as a community, want covered. Thanks!

As opposed to Hyde who caught a bunch of checkdowns so it's not as interesting. I started looking at ATL film of Freeman/Coleman then realized that because they had Julio, it alters how defenses react to, and cover RBs. So I stopped watching the Kyle ATL film. If jd doesn't do this, I will, but after the draft excitement, during the real dead portion of the offseason (June/July).

Jimmy because it also gives us insight into Kyle's play calling, which is just as fun.
...and talk about how it's about to expand after this off season with Jimmy fully up to speed.

I agree. There were a number of times last season where I was like, "what was that?"

It's true, if there's a big development in defense with the draft, that will be a fun topic for speculation.
One of the outstanding questions I have: as one considers the teams we're about to play, how much of their playing style from their past season can we expect to be similar with this new season? The Vikings seem like a great example of a head-scratcher, with a new OC and quarterback, it would seem almost anything could happen.
I'm brand new at this site, but I really enjoy examining each team on the niners schedule and breaking down the talent match-ups, the style of play and their weaknesses.
Thanks for asking!

That's one of the reasons why the first game of the year can be so difficult to tell how well the season will go. In JH last year we beat the Cowboys pretty handily and looked great and like we were on another run, then went 7-8. JT's year we whooped the Vikings and looked great - then went 4-11. Chip's year we manhandled the Rams week one and then went 1-14.
