I like the interest the team is showing in Terrell Prior as the would be big receiver.

When healthy, he makes for a strong, tall red zone threat, but also a big jump-ball receiver downfield.


Side note: Removed Daniel Kilgore due to the trade... interior OL looks so barren again. Beadles barely deserves a spot, he's a mediocre at best OG and emergency center. Tomlinson has to go though. I think we need to sign a FA guard now and then draft two more OG/C prospects.

Totally agree on Pryor.

Agree that they should invest in interior O- line depth. Now that they are filling needs through free agency they might draft Nelson out of ND if he's available.

Updated with the Attaochu signing and the Lynch-to-Chicago signing.

Attaochu is a low-risk, high-reward signing that could help us in the pass rush game if he's healthy. That durability was a knock on him coming out as a prospect, but the physical ability and natural talent is there. He just hasn't been on the field enough either due to injury or playing behind someone to show it yet. We'll see if he does something here.

Methinks you are correct, sir!

In fact, given the cupboard being so bare at OG, I wonder if that, at this moment, it is as great a need as pass rusher... It will be interesting to see how the team proceeds from here. If they show some urgency in pursuing OGs now in FA and the draft, it will give us all some insight into how they feel about Garnett. If they don't, that would send a message that they might feel that he is at least a solid backup at this point.

I think Pryor may come in on a one year prove it deal.

Lynch is making some nice upgrades.

Sherman >> D.Johnson
Richburg >> Kilgore

And Jet Mckinnon can be seen as an upgrade over Hyde, simply b/c he's a closer fit for Kyle's offense.

OTC...any OGs out there you still like? Very limited supply this year in free agency, which may lead to a climb on draft boards for OGs. Right now it looks like:

Staley/Garnett/Richburg/Magnuson/Brown and a bunch of guys.

Looking at the free agent list, there's still a few solid CB's available (Gaines and Melvin). Have to think Lynch is taking a look at those guys to bolster the CB depth and possibly start.

Not really any guys out there that I'm high on as far as OG. Pugh is there, but I am not high on him. Maybe Ryan Jensen from Baltimore, but he'll probably want a shot at center. Jack Mewhort, Mike Person, or Brian Schwenke are other names I might kick tires on. I believe Person started a bunch of games for the Falcons while Shanny was there.

this for sure, we need some Dick Sherman insurance in case he does not come back 100

This list clearly shows the hype train needs to slow down for the upcoming season. People are saying playoffs, super bowl etc.

As for a big WR redzone threat, my thinking is i'd rather lay off taking a WR body with one of our 1st four draft picks and take a TE instead. I do not know the TE coming into the draft this year, but if there is a big bodied TE who showed he can win jump balls, take him. Go Pats offense with fast, explosive WRs and massive TEs who can not only catch and get down field, but also block and help the run game.

As it sits today, we significantly upgraded C, got a RB who fits better, significantly upgraded CB (even if Sherman is only average) and likely upgraded our outside pass rush.

What got worse? I don't see any position that got worse other than perhaps safety.

We still have some needs, sure, but with the draft yet to happen and FA just getting going, the team is in great position.

What do we really need? Interior LB depth (someone capable of starting), an upgrade at G, a nickle CB and low end depth options at WR, S and outside pass rush.

Those can easily be filled with the draft and bargain FAs except the guard upgrade. The heavy lifting is over.

The only spot we haven't addressed that we loss someone is Guard. Fusco started some games last year and we haven't replaced him yet. Is there a guy on the roster we like a lot like Magnuson or Garnett? Hard to say but from what I've seen so far I think the staff is content with the roster.
