What's up with 49erstweets.com? I know I can't be the only one who has that site on constant refresh to check the latest news links/tweets for us quickly. Site looks like it's offline which means I have to comb through twitter like a caveman :(

I use this.

General Team Captain Question:

What do the four stars mean, and why do some players have multiple gold stars while others have only one? Does it mean how many years a player has been a captain?

Aren't gold stars for character?

Oh lord that tweet is so whiny, i heard my chemical romance playing in my head while I read it.

The team have added a multitude of wide receivers over the last two years including using a second. What so people are really going to be mad they didn't wildly over pay for Watkins or robinson who both didn't even come close to 1k yards?

Oh who was the plethora of edge talent last year we missed out on? Geez really missed out on Harold Landry.

I respect the point on FS. Even though Colbert looked like the future last offseason, they should have brought in more insurance than DJ reed.

The only one whining is you.

And he's still accurate though. He's also talking about years...not just this year. Clearly, we've been unable or unwilling to secure a blue chip ER, FS and WR...not really a secret to us 49er fans.

As to last year, Robinson was their #1 WR playing in an offense who was 25th in passing attempts and in year one of coming back from an ACL. You're out of your mind if you don't think he would have stabilized our ZWR position and had over 1K in our system. But if you're cool with Garcon, Goodwin and Bourne, great...how much did those 3 cost us in cap space this year for their epic contributions? Yeah, I'd take Robinson, thank you.

Having Robinson meant we could have used that trade-up for Landry instead. Much bigger need than Pettis who is now, simply replacing Goodwin at XWR, like McGlinchey replacing Brown. How much was really gained...same needs still exist today. And the FO was once again the bridesmaid on Mack as well...like Garrett and soon to be, Bosa. We good with Marsh though. Obviously, nobody could have challenged that dude!

Single high FS? Kind of a big deal in this defense. I actually don't fault them for this one although keeping Brown meant they could have picked up Derwin James instead.

So yeah, he's still accurate. The FO didn't have a plethora of options this last year (as an example) but they made their choices and they could still work out just fine. We'll see over time.

We are talking about two years in a rebuild. They have had to fill a ton of positions and haven't addressed everything in a massive rebuild.

Lol hilarious that you believe Mack was ever going to get traded in the same media market. Because that happens all the time in the NFL right? But history doesnt matter.

Facts: Robinson has only had one season over 1k receiving yards but has been paid like a top 10 receiver. Yeah, lets overpay for a slightly above average receiver. Even if we signed him we would need another receiver no matter what. I'd rather us trade for a receiver who is actually really good such a Brown or Odell Beckham(although not holding my breath).

Harold Landry has less sacks than marsh. Trust me I wanted him, but he wouldn't have solved our problems. We would still need another edge. Oh its the FO's fault we missed out on Garrett. LOL.

2 things. Derwin would be best as an in the box safety in this scheme. Which is great, but wouldn't solve our single high safety need. In the long term McGlinchey is the better choice than brown. You feel comfortable that brown is going to stay motivated once he gets paid, or was he a one year stop gap? Than we have to replace him and staley soon. Also Brown is awful in the run game and above average as a pass protector.

Edit: In terms of receiver: If we can't trade for an actual elite one I think a bargain-bin type of receiver and then drafting in the mid rounds would be the best route for that. We do need to get better there, but unless someone is a high level upgrade we should really allow Shanny and his staff develop them. Focus money on defense and oline. Also this off season we should grab someone who can rush off the edge in both the draft and in free agency. I think this is actually a fairly healthy offseason for many of our needs, except for FS. Outside of Earl, who else is there that can step in and play the single high at a high level? Also a decent amount of options at will potentially.

Cut Trent Taylor already?

Greg Cosell stating what we've been talking about on KNBR.

He said the 49ers lack "impact" defenders, think Aaron Donald, not the position, but the player. Also mentioned WR.

That's why Cosell gets paid the big bucks.

Thanks Jason...big help. It also helps that you grouped them so you can see where the gluttony is, where it's bare, where the good competition is and and holes in the roster...who we might want to extend next season.
Our own players seem to be more aggressive at reaching out to free agents than our FO.

FO motto: "Aggressive with parameters"
Players motto: "Aggressive through Twitter"

I like it.

Keep up the good work Kittle, Staley, Sherman, etc.

I love the dynamic of the FO and the Players, Sherman with optimism, Staley recruiting, Kittle having fun.
My wish list in this order:

1. FS- Earl Thomas would allow the defense to do what it wants as a single high.
2. O- lineman an interior one is greatly needed. Have to keep Jimmy G upright.
3. Edge rusher I would love to obtain 2 via free agency and use the draft for depth. But if not then 1 in free agency and 1 in the draft.
4. OLB- KJ Wright this guy fits the scheme and makes plays, constantly.
5. WR- Devin Funchess who would only cost money.
