How do you know what we're going to do with that 2nd round pick? I'd love to be able to see the future, too!

3 Impact starters and another guy who was starting and playing well before he got hurt. Lattimore is already an all-world corner and should be for a while barring injury. Kamara is a stud and the OT from Wisconsin is a rock at tackle

Can't really say that since we don't know what this years 2nd round pick will do.

Bird in the hand
ya, no way in hell whoever we pick in the 2nd this year will make an impact the way Kamara did.

Saints obviously were better prepared for a RB to have a breakout rookie campaign. The fact that Ingram also had over 1500 yards speaks to that. Great draft by the saints and great use of the extra 7th by Lynch to get Colbert. Having that extra 2nd may have already helped us pull the trigger on the Jimmy G trade and could get packaged with one of the 3rds for a move up. Gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.

Remember 2011
We should be happy we got Colbert and got in front of the Saints for Reuben. There was so many players on the board then, we have no idea if the 49ers would have taken Kamara there. It seems like Joe Williams was there guy, for all we know they may have liked Kareem Hunt there or Cooper Kupp or any other random player.

It didn't work out bad for us.

It's hard to believe the Seahawks gave us Reuben. Gonna be good fun thoroughly explaining that to them over the next 8 - 12 years.

Well, as it currently stands - I'd much rather have Kamara than Colbert and an end of 2nd round pick in 2018 draft. It's not even close.

I think the trade was a win-win for both teams. The Saints got a good change of pace RB in Kamara, and we got lucky with the 7th round pick we got from them in Colbert, and we will see what we do with the 2nd round pick in this years draft.
There's no guarantee at all that we would have taken Kamara, so the comps on that are kind of silly. Also Kamara would not have been the same player for us, as he was for the Saints. I like the trade for both sides, and having deals work out favorably leaves a good taste in both teams mouths, and could keep a good impression in the Saints minds when potentially make a trade with us in the future.

Another point to be made is everything is fluid. If we drafted Kamira and he kicked arse, Brian Hoyer might have been the starter all season. We might have went 6 and 10, never started CJ Beathard, and gulp never started Jimmy Garropolo. We would once again be going into an off season with no franchise qb to build around.

We have a franchsie qb for a second round pick. We have hope

All of this! We made out better than (not just the Saints) but EVERYONE

Well the extra 2nd round pick allowed us to grab jimmy g. While we did not tase the saints pick

The fact that we had it as back up allowed us to deal ours freely

They win on this.

Kamara had red flags that dropped his draft value. I think the management in their 1st year were reluctant to take another risk after taking Foster at the end of round 1.

Ryan Ramzcyk (#32 overall) made Kamara and Ingram look good, along with protecting Brees. He wound up #8 overall AS A ROOKIE!

Awesome pick by NO. Let's hope Lynch can do as well with that 2nd round pick.

Truth!

The NO Oline is a hell of a lot better than ours - Look at the protection Brees gets and the holes both RB get.
