What a great summary, Marv. Thanks. Would just re-emphasize the magnitude of the F/U on signing OL FAs and FA acquisition. Lynch and shanny did a crapola job. Not one decent OL they were responsible for excepting D. Williams (OT) and we haven't really seen him yet. Got my fingers crossed. This is now obviously our #1 job next yr, and i mean 3 all pros for OG, C and OG. Then we need 1 or two OLs (one a C) taken in top end of draft. That would mean not getting #1 WR , ILB, OLB , CB, S, as top pick, but we better fix that OL and i mean with super talent and backups besides. It is the only way we can field a team next yr. And the failures of lynch and shanny at picking OLs was obvious to all this yr. Hopefully darren Williams works out.

Finally, just don't get our potential FR QB hurt this yr before we get some protection for him. If no protection, DO NOT PUT ON FIELD, keep him on bench if we cannot protect him.

On the first point, Maybe none of the higher caliber OL FA's wanted to come here. I really don't know.

Completely agree on the final point!

This season is burnt toast and I want the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft. Any wins would jeopardize that.

Good riddance to that penalty machine.

After all this losing and the injuries, I think it was also smart for the FO to nab Jimmy G because it sends a message to the team: that they are going to keep doing what it takes to get better. If there was no movement on the roster, it gets stale really fast and that's when you start losing people.

Good call!

we're 0-8. they aren't going to move Reid back to SS. They are going to let Colbert sink or swim and allow Reid to sink or swim art OLB.

Someone told me Kyle confirmed Reid back to safety. Hope we get to see Elijah Lee in action and try to over leap Ray-Ray.

Anyways back to Marvins post.. Just add "D played scrappy until the 3rd with a depleted ass team and 2 guys that played a lot of snaps after signing them off the street a week ago"
Concerning the game, I was surprised in the first quarter how close the 49ers were playing them.
Their inability to complete two screen passes to Hyde seemed like the turning point where the team went from being competitive to losing steam
Then on defense, D Johnson's PI in the end zone seemed to take the wind out of the D's sails.

Maybe a new QB can hit those passes and be the difference to move the ball and gain momentum. Maybe he will throw a catchable ball?
From Kap and Gabbert skipping balls off the turf to Hoyer and Beathard being off target, we've had to have the most inaccurate passers in the NFL the last few years.

Was hoping that Witherspoon and R Robinson would grow and be a nice tandem. Too bad we didn't draft Lattimore instead of Dline at #3
Ward is as frustrating as Ellington was. Intriguing as a player when he is healthy. Not sure he is the long-term guy. Even if re-signed, long-term isn't a word I think of when his name is mentioned unless it involves the training room.
Luckily Reid can move back to safety but that leaves Coyle? as a starting LB?

This draft, the offense should be the priority.
Dline looks set could but need a good pass rusher. The LBs corp and the secondary are thin and could use help but the middle of the O line and #1 WR should be the main target.
Garappolo makes the offseason revamping seem a lot less daunting and should speed up the rebuild (I hope)

We have to buy or draft a S. What i am not sure of is if we don't need to buy or draft a total of 2. Between incompetence and injury, we gotta stop the bleeding here. That makes a potential for not jiust 2 CBs but 2 S also. IF there is a really hot S or CB or both in FA, i hope we buy both of 'em.

Im all in CB in FA but i wanna keep Ward at safety unless we wanna target a day one FS in the draft. I rather take a safety in the 2nd or 3rd to develop or target a FA in 2019.
