Harbaugh practices were tough, which built tougher bodies for football.

No way these guys can train at home and then be ready for NFL football.

This was more an offseason training program thing that built tougher bodies than a tougher practices thing. And the new CBA doesn't allow for these anymore so it's nothing that can be done by the current staff.

True, I was just pointing out facts.

It's like trying box without sparring.

I actually train boxing/mma and it's detrimental to spar too hard. That's a recipe to shorten your lifespan and make you less ready to compete. It's all in the strength and conditioning you do to improve your durability in a competition

Are you saying the goal to spar very softly to prepare for a full contact fight?

Boxers will spar 10-12 rounds at the beginning of camp.

Yes actually. Well some go hard but those guys don't last long. And it's not really the number of rounds you spar but how hard you go each round. If you and your sparring partner are trying knock each others teeth out, that's a really dumb way to train. Going 10 to 12 rounds with 50 percent punching power is better.

gotta be some positive news on Greenlaw

Day-to-day with his groin injury
That's what Shanny said in his presser.

Any news on Woerner and others?

Nothing on Woerner

Others Shanahan reported on:

M. Harris - oblique strain; should be okay to practice Wed
D. Ford - mild ankle sprain; should be okay to practice Wed
E. Moseley - hopeful to play on Sunday, but not guaranteed
J. Kinlaw - Not expected to play Sunday, but not ruled out yet either

TY!
Joe Staley, Donte Whitner and Takeo Spikes all agreed...they practiced and trained a lot harder than these newer players, and generally had a lot fewer injuries as a team...
Maybe we need to stop relying on oft injured guys to start

Curse of Levis continues into 2021....
This thread has cursed the team. Lock it up!

Yes. Just one example is Kinlaw, who they knew had bad knees. Another draft pick wasted. I'll be surprised if he plays more than a few games.

I wonder if there's a tracker for how many "injury history" guys we drafted/signed as compared to other teams.

This is a factor. Jerry always trained hard in the offseason and had a relatively injury free career, and played into his forties.

For what it's worth, I've heard many retired pitchers say that it's laughable that pitchers today throw so few innings and have so many arm problems. Pitchers used to routinely throw 9 innings and 250-300 innings per season. Marichal once pitched 16 innings. They don't throw enough anymore to build long term arm strength. Even though these pitchers are bigger and stronger they don't have the durability in their bodies. It's like athletes today are training for explosiveness and not durability or longevity.
Kill this thread with fire!!
Well, the injuries are due to the injury bug, which is virus. And the Ravens are in a full blown pandemic mode. Right now they have :

4 ACLs
1 Achilles. …which wiped out their RBs…except for Lamar.

Sound familiar? Best thing about it is…it ain't us. Sure we got Verret gone. Couple guys on PUP, incl Banks. But right now , we just have to accept we are going to lose a few, but not what the Ravens are getting a taste of. We are due, the minimum of injuries this yr and have been for the last 7 yrs….10 if you want to go out 10 yrs.

But i think the torch has been passed, and it appears Ravens have picked it up.
I'm telling you, the football gods are still in their feelings about the '80's and '90's. We're gonna have to keep a stacked team in order to avoid the football gods PTHD-grudge against this team.

Here's a thought. Maybe the football gods are punishing Niner fans for being ungrateful. So many of our fans crap on the players/coaches/franchise unnecessarily and are overly negative about everything. Maybe the curse will be lifted when we become a more loyal fanbase.
