Only so many reps to go around and appearently they had seen enough. If I hired a busser at a restaurant and he was just loafing around and not on top of his business I'd find someone else who does the job and don't look back.

Agreed.

Absolutely right duke85. No way they throw all that money at him and let him go at this stage of preseason. It was the right approach imo to release him and be pc about it.

I agree with theduke85, they could have cut someone like Smelter or Burbridge, but I can also see how Johnson looked better than Cannon while Cannon was the bottom of the WRs who could be cut.

Also never look at the fact that they GTD $40K of his base salary as an indication that they won't cut him, they cut Evan Goodman, Bret Treadway and Malik Golden, who all had Base GTDs, to fit other players on the team, Treadway was cut to bring in Richard Levy(who got no GTD money at all, treadway got $7,500), Goodman($6,500) to bring in Lauderdale(Got zero GTD money), Golden was cut to bring in Dumervil. Had they wanted to, they could have cut players with no GTD money, for example at OL, Norman Price, Levy, at S Sunseri, Chanceller James.

I do believe something happened with Cannon, like he thought he didn't need to compete as hard, or maybe he was pissed from going from a potential 1st rd pick all the way to UDFA. Or lack of Hustle.

The coach said that they "watch they players on every play", 'esp. when they don't get the ball', and the coach implied that Cannon didn't block well and didn't hustle and compete as hard eg. on running plays ....

So our wr coach who found BJ is the same guy that found Willie Snead and Taylor Gabriel. Not bad company.

At first glance his stats look whack but if you dive deeper and see the qb play and how they were 100 percent run first, then his 600 yards look more impressive. Hopefully we could move him to the practice squad, unless he tears it up in pre season. Crazy s**t happens every year. Nobody expected willie Snead to do what he did his first and second years.

This would be #3 on my list if someone can emerge out of the wood works into a SOLID WR.
