WR Trent Taylor-Round 5-Pick 177

Injuries appear to have zapped what little potential he had. I was so sick of hearing how he was the best receiver in training camp in multiple years, and then nada during the season. If you aren't NFL caliber you shouldn't be on the team. If Hurd doesn't come back strong he should be gone too.

he was the best slot WR we had and proved it in the regular season. Then he got hurt and has been trying to comeback the last two years.

This is not madden where players comeback like nothing happens. Injuries can change careers.
It's sad to see anybody have their career derailed by injuries. There have been so many players that never realized their full potential because of one critical or several smaller injuries. At least he got a shot. Some never even get to play one game because a college injury never heals right like Marcus Lattimore. He was such a stud in college and a real class act.

It was bc of his rookie season and connection with jimmy g especially on third downs. Sorry to disappoint some but that's a fact. Anyone can look it up (PFF showed just how good he was on third downs it was pretty surprising)

Now it looks like he lost all his speed and shiftiness. It's got to be from his last 2 years of injury. Either way if he can't get the great separation that he used to get its time to move on. He was so impressive his rookie year and I still couldn't believe he led his whole draft class in yards (I think he had 1800 yards receiving )

I say just roll with James jr at his spot

Exactly. People on here so quick to ret rid of players and then come up with the illusion the guy sucked his entire career. The fact is he was always a decent slot guy until up to this year I guess all teams should cut rookie WRs who gain 400+ yards their rooklie year without starting a game.

No one is trying to rewrite history. He had a spark his rookie year but so did Pettis. What he has done since is demonstrate his inability to stay on the field. At the very latest, he should have been cut last year.

Dude is worse than Pettis in my opinion. I would've rather they cut him, but to be fair, he at least doesn't fumble on punts/kicks regularly. Absolutely needs to be replaced next year.

Yep. Agreed.

Exactly

lol are you serious bro??? Pettis couldn't even touch Trent taylor in the real season of training camp. Everyone knows training camp is where the Lombardi is won.

I get it truly being sarcastic at the utmost

Taylor has caught a pass in the NFL this season. When is the last time Pettis caught a ball? (not including the kickoff he immediately coughed up)

Kinda hard when JimmyG can`t read defenses don`t you think,Pettis has been open more then 711 and yet jimmyG can`t seem to see Him,not to get off target but there were times in the last 2 games JimmyG played that he had 5 TDs left on the field 3 to Aiyuk one to Bourne and one to Juice ...running wide freaking open so yeah Pettis just din`t get the ball thrown his way and Taylor is done wasting roster space rather see Cracraft,he does get open at times

Yeah he was all about quickness and I think he's just lost that with his foot injuries.

Sucks because he was a nice little jitter bug (Cole Beasley 2.0) out of the slot. Get open fast on those 3rd downs.

Kittle isn't gonna be happy when his boo isn't on the team next yr.

cut it out lol

Exactly

Should've just cut both of them.
This will most likely be his last year. Hurd if he can finally stay healthy will be back and then they would probably take another wr in the late rounds as well. Deebo, Aiyuk, James and Hurd are locks for sure. Bourne could be brought back only at their price so that's 5 guys who should see the field over him

no,, because then we will hear... well we have no money.. he will come back cheap... signing a terrible player just cuz he will come cheap is a horrible reason to keep a bum like him.. yes i said bum,, f**k him and pettis and ward and aa. we got rid of one of the pieces of trash. just dump the rest of them. this is not oprah.
How is he still on this team? aside from his rookie year he's played like ass

Because he only played during his rookie year. Did you miss the point where he missed the past two seasons due to a foot injury? That would be his second and third seasons? You know, the seasons where HE DIDN'T PLAY? Those seasons? This is the first time he's been back on the field SINCE his rookie season.

You want to fire a guy after eight games?

I still believe in Trent. I hope he gets the rest of the season to play through the foot injury and hopefully see something out of him. If not, Mr. Nasty, your desires to see Trent Taylor offloaded in the offseason may become a reality. This team isn't going anywhere in the postseason this year anyway. Why not give this guy a chance to at least attempt to come back after missing two seasons due to injury?

You may be right. The injury may have ruined his career. But it's still too early to give up on this guy.

You may be right. But, this is assuming Hurd can stay healthy. Something he hasn't been able to accomplish, so far. The key words are: "so far."

Plus, given Shanahan and Lynch's ability to spot and draft WR talent in the middle rounds or undrafted free agents, there's a chance another name could be on the roster at some point.
