The LB talent is meh, with poor depth. We need to cut one, and try to upgrade the talent of 2-7.

As for where they fit, in the D-line (in base 4-3), we have 4 distinct positions.

5Tech (strong side DE, think "3-4 DE")
Starter: Buckner
Depth: Dial, Balducci

Good fit. Good Depth.

1Tech (strong side DT, think "3-4 NT")
Starter: Mitchell
Depth:

Mitchell is a penetrator. We still need a Fat run plugging NT as well.

3Tech (weakside DT, think Michael Bennet)
Starter: AA
Depth: Blair

If AA is healthy, we will be able to see if he can do this, he has the tools.

Leo weakside DE (picture Von Miller)
Starter: Lynch
Depth: Tank

This needs attention.

As for the LBs, we're only starting 3, and we've already created competition- either Ray Ray, Malcom, or Brooks is sitting. That's some decent talent on the bench. Good problem to have.

Note: I'm not sure, but my guess is that Malcolm Smith will compete at both the WILL and SAM and be insurance for Bowman in case he's not 100% for the MIKE. We're still looking hard at both Brandon Williams and Dontari Poe (Domata Peko & Terrel McClain) at LDT/1T, badly need a real LEO pass rusher and no doubt, need some veteran starters or push-starters at all 3 LB spots. If we can lock down a premier CB, this D could be off and running. Both Brooks and Harold are tweeners for a couple positions: LEO/SAM.
