and we should have swept them in 2024, but the second game, Bosa went out with injury, and Geno Smith pulled a rabbit out of his ass on the final drive to beat us.

We won last year when he was just beginning wth his new defensive starters and yes he's we had our full team back then. But we can't blame it on injuries we have that every year.

In a way that that Ravens game didn't show Kyle had an issue with Macdonald. The Ravens were a super talented defense but we put up the most yards on them all season long. The interceptions were not scheme based. Brock made a bad throw on one. One was him throwing as he got hit and two others were due to crazy bounces. We were moving the ball without those turnovers.

On top of that when Kyle didn't have a handicapped offense we weren't dead in the water vs Seattle.

It just comes down to the players. When Seattle had all their top guys and we were missing a bunch of our key guys we lost. When it was flipped we won.

Week 1 last year was probably the closest like for like. We had guys out and so did they. We won. Should've swept them in 2024 had Bosa not gotten injured in that 2nd game.

I am curious how the next game looks tho losing Stribling, Robinson and Tonges sucks for that one.

Well seeing as how they never have guys out for more than a week or two theylll probably have everyone fully healthy.

First time in 49ers History that they've beaten their first two opponents by 20+ pts. Maybe there's something special brewing up this season...

I am too... This next Seattle game, hopefully we have no more major injuries so we can see how these two teams really match up.

Brock was playing amazing against the Rams and dolphins and Kyle is designing great game plans this year. The game will be a real test of what Seattle's (McDonald's) D will be against Kyle at his best. Looking forward to the game. If our O line protects Purdy enough then we can really get excited for this year.

I'm getting old forgetting that this is the 3rd year for McDonald and Seattle lol.

How and who is going to come up with the game plan to beat Seattle's defense? The 9ers and Rams have to be working on this constantly.

Ok, the Seahawks defense isn't just exceptional personnel. Their personnel look exceptional because the scheme is so incredibly sound at stopping each opponent's offense. But overall, their defensive philosophy seems to be to smother an offense with a medium and high shell of disciplined and tight coverage at those depths, which gives the DL time to get pressure. Exploit the OL's protection rules to create free rushers (similar to Brian Flores).

What they are totally willing to give up is the underneath routes - even the crossers - with the discipline of the shell to rally to the tackle and keep it short gains. The other area they leave vulnerable is the outside deep, which is still harder to attack when a deep shell can react to the outside.

I think part of this plan is to wait for the offensive to get impatient with the suffocating play and constant struggle to convert 3rd downs - and then an offense presses and either get's incompletions or turnovers in the medium and deep routes.

1. Do you try to come up with a run plan that can get them out of the shell coverage of their LBs and DBs?
2. I think Evans and Stribling (with the expectation of Pearsall's speed across the middle) were intended to attach the deep outside.
