His story for one. Grant caught him lying and called him out. Kyle's lack of integrity doesn't surface until he goes in front of reporters and gives a completely different rendition from his original story of what actually occured. The cover up backfired so of course he came forward. If Kyle hit a tree instead of another car I doubt anyone would've cared including the police

Grant found a public record and Kyle set it straight. Pretty much immediately. How was it Kyle lying when he had made no public statement to anyone about what happened before then?

No he called reporters that cover the team to a private group meeting in his office a week ago and gave a tearful, remorseful explanation. Then yesterday at his presser he gave a completely different story and blamed the auto pilot device in his Tesla. I mean I'm no detective but Kyle has an issue with accountability. He took a bad look and somehow made it worse by opening his mouth

No. He didn't. He stated it was his fault for looking away on both meetings. He stated the autopilot was on in both meetings. In the latest press conference he stated he's not sure if he accidentally turned the autopilot off or not when he looked away to get his phone.

In neither statement did he blame the autopilot.
---

Are you mad at yourself for getting in the situation?

"Yeah. I mean, anytime you cause an accident that can be avoided, you'd feel pretty stupid. Especially when you have a chance to hurt someone else. You get mad when you get a ticket at yourself, so it's kind of the same. I think everyone's done, to a degree, what I've done. Dropping a phone, it falling all the way to my back seat to where I have to fully take my eyes off the road. It's something that I normally wouldn't do. I've had autopilot for nine years, so I'm pretty comfortable with it. Who knows what happened when I turned around. Whether it malfunctioned or whether I knocked it off, that's something I don't know yet. But regardless, it is always your fault, whether you're on autopilot or not. You can't take your eyes off the road. It's a partnership driving. You don't just turn it over to a computer. It's a good lesson, no matter how comfortable I am with that, that I believe someday could save my life or someone else's. It's really helped me have perspective on that stuff."

---

How anyone could watch or read that recent press conference and conclude he was blaming the autopilot and changing his story is beyond me. It's simply not what he said.

Grant posted a video on YouTube about an hour ago regarding the inconsistencies in Kyle's story. I tend to believe Grant over your opinion. No offence but Grant was in his office a week ago when Kyle called the meeting and was also at the press conference yesterday. He does this stuff for a living. I think people can come up with their own conclusions

I wouldn't trust Grant with anything. The guy is a troll hack. If you want to trust him over Shanahan, who for a decade has been as forthright and open as any HC in the NFL, sometimes to a surprising degree... well, good luck with that.

Grant is a hack. His opinion is as believable as some Twitter troll. You only like him bc he s**ts on the niners and goes on your local radio stations and at your tailgates. Everybody who's in the niners building or a fan knows he's garbage.

What do y'all want Kyle to say?

"Uhm, yeah, I actually meant to kill the girl. I'm actually a little pissed off she's still alive. I'll have to go faster next time. I hate the 49ers and I never plan on winning a Super Bowl. I've purposely already sabotaged two and I'm hoping for a third. I lied, I'm a liar, and I'm lying right now. Thank you."

It was a car accident and you guys are trying to make it like its some grand conspiracy. He's admitted fault and has been open about everything. You claim he's changed his story, but to what end? What exactly is he covering up?

Makes me believe that a lot of people haven't been in a self driving vehicle. Lol I have a Tesla and the self driving isn't perfect and you are supposed to pay attention 100% of the time.

the scenario he describes is a very real scenario and would be 100% his fault.

I got pulled over once cause I had it on auto pilot and my lane ended up merging and the car jerked cause the spacing was odd during the merge - they thought I was drinking. Lol weird stuff happens that are unexpected. I don't see this in a way where Kyle is deflecting blame - you're not supposed to take your hands away from the wheel or your eyes off the road during auto pilot - it actually sends off alarms if the cameras in the car see you not doing it.

This made me laugh, good posted lol

Dude, those self driving cars, someone hit my car once cause they were in auto park mode and hit my car while it was parked lol. I am like, you can't even park on your own? She had a kid in the car too, I was like damn, just park yourself?

I don't know where else to put this, does anybody know what position coach Joe Graves is and Johnny Holland is still on the staff so what is his title now (former LBC), linebacker coach emeritus or something?

Do people expect him to beg each of them personally for forgiveness for being a terrible human being or something?

Just him. Anything Brandon Aiyuk ever does is also Kyles fault.

Want to show me an example? If not I'll finally block you as well. I'm finally moving on from yall disingenuous posters. Just a waste of forum space really.
Dude don't act like you didn't.

look at what you are doing here, you're "Kyle bad" shtick

LOL exactly.

I can't imaging caring about this.

What's changed, exactly? Aside from the incorrect entering of the report in the database that got corrected within a day I've seen nothing changing.

As for calling people "dullards" for not being obsessed with conspiracy theories... well, get over yourself. You're not as clever as you think you are, nor are you a superior human being like you think you are.

Grant didn't catch him lying. He talked to a guy dealing with clear concussion symptoms.

The story went from I dropped my phone to my lap to I dropped my phone and it went to the backseat. Oh the horror!!!

If you continue to talk about a "coverup" then explain exactly what's being covered up or your time to post here will be over. I've seen others call you out, you came in here being very chill and bringing solid conversation without rage baiting. However it seems like as the season is getting closer that last part is becoming less true.

Fans of other teams are welcome here. 49er fans who aren't thrilled with whats happening with the team are welcome here as well. Just make sure if you're going to claim things that will upset the majority of the people posting here that you have some form of facts/proof behind it.

"Yeah, I mean, I didn't sit there and feel like I had to. I didn't have a ton of guilt over it or anything. The word's an accident and it truly was that way. You realize how quick and close that stuff can happen. When you're going at 20 miles an hour and you're on autopilot, I honestly have zero worries. I have so much trust in that stuff. That was a good lesson that you can't ever have zero worries. I think it definitely could be an example for a lot of people.

Seems so familiar with his whole tenure here in SF, just regarding game time decisions, player personnel decisions that have impacted the team in a big way at those moments. It's part of who he is. He doesn't realize, or care, how stuff like this comes off. I used a term for it before, but had to rephrase it.

What exactly did he say that was so crazy? I've seen a few people(and it's always Kyle's haters doing it) bring up that response from Kyle as a big gotcha.

What are you expecting from him? That he's riddled with crippling guilt the rest of his life because of a car accident where he was the only one who got injured?

Have you ever been in an accident before? This is laughable to me. Some of you want him to be a drunk driving lunatic so bad that you're scrambling for any scrap of Kyle coming off badly here.

It was an accident. Kyle can feel guilty about the other driver getting falsely accused of being at fault and yet not feel guilty about causing the accident. He made a stupid decision and he was the one who paid the price. The other driver had to deal with a lot of inconvenience but I'm certain Kyle/49ers will make things right for her.

Hell the question is pointed at him like how are you setting an example for other coaches/players on the team. He wasn't out late, he wasn't speeding, wasn't drinking and driving. Why should he feel guilty exactly?

Grant with an emotional and still concussed Kyle Shanahan and you want to pretend like the story was so drastically different for some nefarious reason.

Give me ONE reason why Shanahan would have to change his story on purpose and not simply because he misspoke at either meeting or simply had a brain fart during the earlier one?

Grant is so weird. He had this big video with his dad talking about that meeting with Kyle and he actually sounded like a normal human. Suddenly he's back on the "49ers and Kyle are trying to hide something" BS train. Not sure if it's because all of a sudden he didn't feel as special as he did that day.

But the reality here is what Grant claimed Kyle "changed" in his story from their meeting the other week.
1. Kyle actually told them he was using the self driving feature but asked them not to bring it up. He then brought it up in yesterday's presser.
2. Kyle at the first meeting claimed the phone fell between the seats. This time he said it fell to the back seat.

How crazy!

And guess what dude...Grant Cohn is a nepo baby beat writer. He's not any more able to understand what actually happened from someone telling him a story than you or me.

I've dropped my phone many times while driving. Sometimes it goes between the middle console and my seat. Sometimes it comes out the back of the seat and is actually in the backseat. Considering Kyle in both meetings mentioned using the auto driving feature him reaching back to grab the phone is still incredibly stupid but also not some insane situation like you and Grant are projecting. He most certainly doesn't have to be "ass up" as Grant put it. I've reached back many times to pick up things my kid dropped in the back seat without having to do anything like that.

It's comical how much you all are reaching here.
It wouldn't surprise me if Kyle was DUI. I'm not saying I think that, it just wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

Also possible he was doing heroin while banging hookers.

It's possible He obviously wasn't arrested though.

I guess we could hear from the other driver in some form or fashion at some point, but the DUI angle is dead without an arrest.
