Boy Kyle's buddy Chris Simms is not doing him any favors today. Heck I think we know now how Kyle gets messages/leaks to Chris as well, without directly contacting him... through Kyle's wife, who has Chris' #.

Mercedes or BMW involved , it's usually their fault .
As an owner of three Bimmers, that's funny! And here I thought a symptom of ED was envy. 😂

BMW drivers rank near the top for overall driving incidents nationwide, recording 44.9 total incidents per 1,000 drivers—the highest of any major car brand. This metric tracks a mix of accidents, speeding, citations, and DUIs from platform insurance data compiled by LendingTree. [1]
Incident and Accident Breakdown
Total Incidents: Rank No. 1 overall at 44.9 per 1,000 drivers (including speeding, accidents, and DUIs).[1]
Accident Rate: Rank No. 4 for pure accidents specifically, with 22.9 accidents per 1,000 drivers(behind Ram at 23.9, Subaru at 23.2, and Tesla at 23.1). [1]
DUI Rate: Rank No. 1 highest for driving under the influence, logging 4.8 DUIs per 1,000 drivers, which is more than double the rate of second-place Ram. [1]

In what way? Seems to me Simms is backing up the basic facts: It was a serious collision, but fortunately neither party was hurt severely. Kyle has recovered well from his overall physical injuries, but the concussion symptoms are lingering.
If anything Simms showed he's a real bro by keeping a personal matter between close friends undisclosed to the media until Kyle let the team make a statement, as obviously Kyle's wife reached out due to their friendship.

This
Simms is his friend and likely showing some emotions too, completely normal.

By mentioning on his own that the 49ers organization is close to the local authorities, and insinuating that the police helped out not leaking anything (in comparison to other people)... while also letting out how close he and his wife are to Kyle...which gives that (Local Police/49ers relationship) credibility..
And something new I just learned today/didn't realize (thank you Chris), how Kyle is really close to Adam Schefter (the most famous NFL news breaking reporter)... has known the family since they were young. Wrote a book with Papa Shanahan almost 30 years ago.
Now it makes me want to go back to previous 49ers stories from Adam.. and what narratives he was trying to push at the time...

Check this report out:
https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/isn-t-journalism-dan-patrick-210022708.html
Sounds like he was returning from his chiropractor appt.
Paraphrased here:
"I think when you get down into it, this is where having goodwill, treating people the right way, being successful, yeah, being powerful as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, but being a guy that everybody in the community likes and knows, and that's where Kyle is gifted and cool," Simms said.
He also noted that Shanahan was reportedly returning from a chiropractic appointment and was close to the 49ers' facility when the accident occurred. Because NFL teams often have established relationships with local police officers and first responders around stadiums, Simms said those connections may have helped explain why details of the crash remained private."
--
If he's at fault, I wonder if he was districted looking at this phone. But there is nothing out there that indicates any sort of fault. Whatever occurred, it doesn't sound like anything nefarious occurred.

How did Simms insinuate that the police helped out with keeping things quiet?

Don't know what happened obviously or know that area but for all the conspiracy nuts out there assuming somehow Kyle must've been at fault or doing something dangerous that's a bunch of crap.
I've been in two serious accidents in my life. I was going under 20 mph in both of them. Thankfully had my seatbelt on and managed to break last second or I'm probably not posting here.
I was only given a citation for one of those and I ended up fighting it so it was dropped.
The one I wasn't given a citation was technically my fault. I was in an area I had never been before and it looked to me like a 4 way stop(it wasn't) but the way they had the intersection setup was the stop sign for me was set far back so it was impossible to really see cars coming. I came to a full stop, looked, didn't see anyone coming and started going. Car came flying around the corner and smashed my front. Glass shattered but thankfully I just had some minor cuts on my arms.
I can see Kyle being in a similar situation. Reports say the woman driving the other car was at fault but could've been reverse of my situation where she couldn't see cuz of how the road is setup. Also why they didn't cite either driver.
Have to imagine Kyle wasn't wearing a seatbelt or that he got hit in a worse spot and airbags could've been a reason for the injuries.
Either way everything new that comes out shows it was simply an accident.

Reading his article carefully, and not making any assumptions at all, but. The comments about the other driver, it could have been a lot worse etc sure sounds this accident may rest on Kyle.

Yeah, agree. Everything stated of his injuries so far indicate he likely had his seatbelt on (broken ribs) and perhaps the airbag caused a majority of the damage. His hand is broken as well. He might have been holding his phone? But again, all of this appears as you say, "simply an accident." I posted another article which stated he was returning from the chiropractor.

One other comment. It says something about his character and the goodwill he's built in the community that this was held private for so long. I would also point out it was kept private by both sides of the accident.

People are imagining/commenting lots of things, that he was drunk, very drunk, there was a cover up, wasn't buckled in...all we will ever probably know, there was an accident, nobody got killed or severely injured. The end.
