49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Man I'm glad he's ok. I was in a pretty bad accident a while back when I was working graveyard at Boeing. Car crashes are no joke. No alcohol or drugs were involved it was just a bad luck accident. They happen. I will never rent a car in the Bay area. Worst drivers in the world and public transportation is decent there when I'm in San Jose at Levi for a Hawks game. You can literally walk to Levi from the SJ airport. Just wish the stadium had covered seating

Chris Foerster is the interim coach. That's it, seasons over.

Get the man an 8 ball and let's get to work

Why not Mick Lombardi? Scarface's judgement already suspect. (That's love, like Navy call signs).

Lulz. Don't tell me that's Kyle's new nickname although it is kind of badass. What was it 47 stitches across his face? That'll leave a mark. Dude should start wearing a pirate eye patch and suck on an unlit cigar on the sidelines from now on. This year could be labeled "the Scarface revenge tour"

For sure was not

You can break ribs from a seat belt and break your hand holding the steering wheel. You can also split your face on the left side window or be hit by something flying around the car cabin. It is possible he was not wearing a seat belt and it is possible he was. Speculation really gets you nowhere in this case.

Jumping to conclusions is a webzone superpower

according to lombardi neither driver was cited.

take that for what it is worth.
1) bring back Saleh as interim coach for 2026

3) hire him permanently

2) invalid Shanhant
Damn!!! The Substation got Kyle also...
With that many stitches in face I wonder if he will opt for plastic surgery to help with scaring. That would delay him further.
Glad Kyle will be ok. Scary situation. Not going to speculate what happened. Just wish him a speedy recovery and hope he's back out there asap.

Hell No. That's no way to intimidate that coach 53 yards away.
I just watched the John lynch press conference, I think this might be really bad
Edit- let's wait a bit.

With those kind of injuries without the seat belt he would be dead by now I don't know why some guys are questioning if he was using it.

The concussion is naturally the greatest concern here.

First and foremost, this is way bigger than football and he's lucky to be alive (which feels crazy to say and shows the minute-to-minute fragility of life).

Lot of speculation and this could be diced a multitude of ways. Cohn already has a think piece out after speaking with a doctor and how severity of concussions can be so individualized in terms of effects, intensity, length of symptoms. That naturally gets one extremely worried.

But the counterpoint of reassurance, is that Lynch did specify that Shanahan will be involved in some capacity in the beginning of training camp and he did say "I expect him to be back well before the kickoff game in Australia."

Lynch wouldn't say that if he couldn't. He'd say "we're taking it day by day and we're hopeful he will be a part of that".

So that walks back a bit of concern but again, who knows. The fact that the statement only classified the injuries as "non life threatening" shows the magnitude and makes you worry about the true nature, but that may be a more journalistic formality rather than something to be further read into.

And while this is about a man who suffered significant injuries and could have experienced far worse...we are Niners fans, so of course we are going to balance giving due grace and perspective with how this affects the Niners.

And in speaking to the latter...I honestly don't know why anything surprises me when it comes to this team anymore. The incessant bad luck and misfortune that continues to flog this team year in and year out, on a multitude of levels, is astounding and incredibly disheartening. From a Tartt dropped interception, to a Greenlaw achilles snap during a commercial break in the super bowl, to rampant season-ending/potentially career altering injuries...and the coup de grace now with the head coach in a major car accident. There seemingly is no end in sight in terms of how baffling the stakes and circumstances can get.

Wish Shanny all the best in recovery.
Wow……..Get well Coach.
