49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

There is a lot of new things to talk about in regards to the team and Kyle's coaching/roster management abilities.

At some point enough is enough, we get it. Move on because the constant whining isn't gonna change anything and it's so lazy and stale at this point.

Kyle our HC and most likely will be for the foreseeable future. Let's get over it and discuss other stuff.
"I'm real excited about Jordan James," Shanahan said. "I wish we could have gotten him in there more. He was ready to go here these last six weeks of the year, big time. There just wasn't an opportunity for him."

Yeah he'd rather run McCaffrey into the ground. We get it.

CMC is a finalist in MVP, OPOTY and CPOTY...I'd say there is a good reason to keep playing him.

When your best offensive weapon is CMC you have to use him a lot. Especially when there aren't a lot of other options. Kittle was probably Brock's 2nd best weapon and he missed several games. Pearsall struggled all year. So asking Kyle to not use CMC so much is like waving the white flag. CMC has played long enough to know when he needs to come out of a game. Fans would be complaining that Kyle wasn't using his best weapon if he tried resting him a lot.

Hed mad using cmac led to so many wins. He wants losses and Kyle to be fired.

I do wish Kyle would sub in the backups when we're up in some of those games but overall it's a ridiculous take to be upset we didn't use a late round rookie over a guy in MVP considerations.

won 6 and a row and was playing for the #1 seed, but yeah let's throw in the rookie that hasn't played all year . I swear you'll complain about anything and everything . And this is coming from someone who was all for reducing some of his usage
You guys are hilarious. Anything to protect your precious.

The knock all year was that Kyle did not develop any offensive rookies. McCaffrey, a 29 year old running back with a history of injuries, who looked awful running the ball all year, would have probably benefitted from not being played so much, and would have more years on his tires if he wasnt played so much. The rookie rb would have beneffitted from playing time. The rookie wr would have benefitted from playing time. Instead, McCaffrey looked like a broken down man at the ned of the year, and the rookies lost a year of playing time.

And when Lance did'nt play the argument was "he just needs reps!"

We arent talking about that superbowl anymore. We are talking about the team going forward. Kyle had a chance to give these rookies some valuable playing time that would have benefitted them next year. Oh well.

3 out 4 teams left also have a rb by committee. Look how McVay expertly blends corim and Williams. Look how the Seahawks used Kenneth walker and charbonet. Look at the patriots with Henderson rhamondre Stevenson. Even the bears with swift and monangai. Shanahan just loves running his players into the ground. He even refused to play kittle and tonges at the same time.

That's it.

Now if Sean wins it again this year which is a strong possibility it still won't change my opinion there but obviously it will be a lot harder to argue vs a 2-1 SB record vs an 0-2 SB record as stupid as it is.

A lot of it is luck. Shanahan had the 'unfortunate' luck to lose to Reid/Mahomes in the Super Bowls, and we kinda all know...or should know that the league really wanted that to happen (make Mahomes the face of the league). The league also wants the Rams to succeed, and Goodell knows the only way to make that happen is make them a winner at any costs. That pure gift against the Saints back in 2018 was really the eye opener, but it's been ongoing since. The Rams in LA are a joke....nobody really cares.

Anyways...who do the Rams draw in their bowl? The Bengals. Granted, they faced Burrow, but their coach is an afterthought, so nobody really cares as well. Even if the Rams make the Super Bowl, they ain't facing the dynasty Chiefs level type team.

Again, McVay is a very good HC....he's simply proven he's not as good as Shanahan, and I couldn't care less if he lifts another SB trophy. The dude was about to tap out a few years ago.

Spot on.

With the Rams luck Drake Maye will break his foot in the game Sunday so they get a backup qb in SB either way.

Funny thing is, that's kinda how the Pats got here....facing the Broncos who now have their QB sidelined. Really been a bizarre/bad season of NFL football AFAIC.

Just a question. Serious question.

what has McVay done to simply prove he's not as good as shanahan?

just trying to understand that concept. It's so fascinating to me.

They're both really good. I think Shanahan has proven to be able to consistently get more out of less, particularly at the QB position.

That's not to say Kyle isn't responsible in part for the construction of the roster… he is. But I separate the jobs and I don't have a lot of faith in what's around Kyle in our front office.
