49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

how did the Seahawks fire Carrol, and found a young guy who's gonna have them in the Super Bowl in his second year with the team? Is their front office that much better than ours? Are you guys saying you have zero confidence in our FO doing the same? So that's why you want to go into year 11, 12, and maybe 13 with a coach who's already proven that he can't win a Super Bowl with the best roster in the NFL?

I think they should have fired him after he screwed up the last Super Bowl, but we all knew the Yorks wouldn't. And they won't fire him now. IMO, he's gonna be here at least another 8 years. But if the Yorks really wanted to win like the hawks and the rams, they would move on from him and lynch and start over. I just want to know the opinions of those who love Kyle and how they think the hawks found carolls replacement so quick. I guess they got lucky?

This team was missing some of their top players both talent wise and salary wise this season and made the playoffs and took out the defending champs at their house.

What MacDonald has done with Seattle is impressive but he took over a MUCH better roster than Kyle did. Majority of his top players were already on the roster when he got there including their best players on offense and defense.

But yes…I believe one of the biggest issues for the 49ers right now is on the front office side of things(outside of the injuries which who knows what the issue is there)

McVay and MacDonald both joined the established GMs. Kyle may need to think about bringing in someone like that and stepping back a bit.

Either way getting rid of Kyle is stupid. This season is a reminder of that. Some of you use this last game to claim he should be fired meanwhile the majority of people say the team exceeded expectations given everything happening this year.

He's also whiffed on a s**tload of draft picks. Go look at their drafts since McCloughan left, not really all that inspiring. They were bad enough for several years that they stumbled into some high picks and also have a lot of guys on cheap contracts. That ends this offseason as they are going to have to work out new mega money deals for Witherspoon and JSN and have a whole lot of free agents that will be commanding significant raises. This was their year to strike and credit to them, they took full advantage of it.

They got incredibly lucky with Byron Murphy. That guy never should've been available at their pick but cuz the top of the draft went so offense crazy they got a slam dunk player land to them mid 1st round.

Yeah we could also be like the Titans and fire our coach who everyone in the football world says is a good coach and watch that coach look great with another team.

Who cares ? Let him be great somewhere else. Andy Reid left and won 3 SBs in KC. Guess what ? The team that dumped him won 2 with 2 different coaches. You guys hang on to Kyle like he's the next coming of Jesus. It's a fallacy to claim that losing Kyle automatically puts us in the Dennis Erickson / Mike Nolan years. It sounds even more preposterous when you see guys like Ben Johnson and Mike Macdonald turn bottom feeders into contenders in 1-2 years. Kyle is not the be-all and end-all that you guys claim him to be…

Lol this is why no one values your opinion
Most of the NFL world is saying Kyle should be COTY!! Some of you are just soo not football smart to want to get rid of him. The future is bright, and if by some miracle we can stay somewhat healthy we will be A ok.

Sure. Now point out the part I lied about.

It's crazy that anyone can watch the Bears and think it's all Ben Johnson and not Caleb Williams progression that has been the catalyst.

The 2023 Seattle Seahawks were 9-8 for one. No way shape or form a bottom feeder.

The problem with this statement is the Seahawks have had many years of consecutive bad drafts & personnel decisions up until the recent few years. And as a result, they haven't been anything close to a contender - they haven't made it as far as the NFC Championship game for the past 11 years. To their credit, they've added some good young talent in recent drafts & acquired very good vet talent on D like Leonard Williams & Ernest Jones.

You don't have a substantive point. You think the team should jettison its most valuable asset because the team hasn't reached an accomplishment that requires contribution from more than a single position.

You mistakingly think one of the primary reasons we have contended for championships for multiple years is the primary reason we haven't won one. It's dumb.

It'd be nice to see you offer substantive analysis instead of your one-note casual fan complaints mainly based on context free expectations and how you felt watching a team 3-4 decades ago.

Caleb Williams has not been good outside of a few quarters of football. They almost lost to the packers twice this last month. They're playing a real team today so you'll see the evolution.

That's true there was a long period of bad drafting, but Schneider built a SB winning roster, and he might have done it again. His last 2 drafts might both have been the best in the league. The 49ers do a lot of things better than anyone, but over the last 5 years, drafting has not been as good as is was in the first 3 years of this regime. and then there is the Trey Lance trade.

I love Kyle and John, but I think the draft the last 5 years needs to be improved

A real pass rush maybe. Worse secondary however.

The bears secondary is even worse. It won't be a close one
