He's toast. Almost no way he can get out of this. We can easily be worse than last year. A top 5 pick is not out of the question.

They need to walk out of this draft and next year with legitimate 4 starters from each draft. Hopefully they can rewrite their draft track record. This team has almost zero young talent.
Yeah a lot will be riding on player development from last year and this upcoming draft class.
Will be interesting to see if Kyle still wields power in the upcoming draft if he does and goes for his crushes then even given the easier schedule the team will not make the playoffs

We will know if one of our 3rd round pick is a RB lolol

Not gonna happen. This is in essence the conundrum that is Kyle Shanahan. He chooses to have his hands in all those jars, and when he doesn't get what he wants he balks. Now that Jed is pulled the reigns from him, I expect Kyle will slowly start to drift away from the team. Remember this is a guy that made a 30 page PowerPoint presentation for Cleveland just to get out of his contract.

I wanna hope you are wrong but I think you are right. Hope Jed can stand up to Kyle and make him focus on the team. Let John and the scouts do their job. Clearly Paraag is making moves.

This is pretty much it.

We have so many people who want bash the players for their performance and talk about Shanahan not adapting.

Guess what these moves are doing? They're forcing him to adapt and they're stripping off players who under performed.

Greenlaw is the only stud in the group who we didn't really have a great fallback plan on.

I will say the Collins release surprised me but I think that and the Floyd cut shows the team is looking to bring in guys who can stop the run, which may not be a bad idea given the top competition in the NFC runs the hell out of the ball.

I don't like that we're putting so much into the draft BUT given our needs this is the draft to do that with I guess. Just have to nail the picks!

Personally I felt that the team despite the injuries got a little complacent. It felt like they expected to coast into the playoffs last year and then get their reinforcements from Dre and CMC and make a run...then it never happened and we got more injuries on top of it. Getting hungry players in here is not a bad thing.

Is the Dr in psychology?

You don't know what's happening right now so unless you're Kyle's or Jed's personal psychologist then you need to stop with the speculation.

What posters like DrEll and others like to ignore is the fact that the reason the 49ers lost a bunch of talent so far in free agency is because of the job Kyle and his staff have done. Both in the draft and in development of said players.

The reality is if Jed was finishing up with Kyle then he would've brought in a new HC this offseason so they could make the decision on Purdy and start a full blown rebuild.

They kept Kyle and John and clearly decided to trim off the fat off this roster, infuse young talent and have Kyle and Saleh coach the guys up. Maybe we take a step back this season, more likely with our schedule we tread water and hover around .500 with the push towards contention again in 2026.

Either way right now it's stupid to overreact to the roster before the draft. We're clearly putting a lot into that part of the offseason and I expect to see a lot of new faces week 1. It's scary but also exciting in some way.

Forcing him to adapt?

flipped the org starting 2017
made it to the SB in 2019
started retooling
took the team to another SB with nearly a different team
now we are letting guys who didn't contribute go
Signing some guys who can perform but without the hefty price tag

Kyle has been adapting since day 1

For his sake he should leave it all to John or whoever makes those late round picks

I can see that in your wildest fantasies, Jed and Kyle now hate each other, but why is Kyle still here if he's so disillusioned?
and why does Jed still pay him 14 million per season to coach?

Because he likes him. He's coach's buddy. It's why Jed will never be like his uncle. The Yorks don't have loyalty to the team. They have loyalty to money. As long as tickets sell, seats are filled, merchandise is a flow, they won't make changes. When the fans turn on Kyle, you bet Jed will change his tune toward his butt buddy. I'm thinking T minus 12 months before this happens.
