I agree. This pattern originates from Shanahan's philosophy of practice and minimal preseason. You get poor play at the start of the season. He has to learn how to win with each team. For awhile it was "get the ball to Kittle", then "get the ball to Mostert", then "get the ball to Deebo", so now we'll see how it changes.
Assessing Shanahan as a coach, he's a mixed bag. He has an excellent offense system, coaching tree, play design and sequence, status within the league. He's a piss-poor play caller in the clutch, he has very poor record on injuries, very poor record on drafting/developing QBs.
