I don't know what pointing out the record without Brady does.

Firstly, he was able to help develop Brady into a HOF QB. Shanny surely had his chance with that by moving UP to get a future HOF in CJ Beathard.

Also, Belichick's career has largely been comprised of time with Brady.

Shanahan could never develop a QB like that. He ruins them. Yes, if we had an all time great QB, do I think Shanahan could succeed? Sure. So could I. Who the hell couldn't?

It's a damn near prerequisite for success. The best coach all time needed him to be beyond mediocre.

Traded a 7th rounder to get CJ. "Moved up". How did we ever recover from the cost.

What HOFer did he develop in Cleveland?

Bill Belichek would be out of the league if he didn't stumble into Brady. No one would care about Andy Reed if Mahomes hadn't blown up.

If Shanahan wants to be that guy, he needs Trey to be it, and it must be 2023.

We're f**ked then. No chance Trey crushes it in 2023. Still too green. The injury sets him back at least a year or two.

Andy Reid was going to the championship almost every damn year with McNabb and routinely in the playoffs with Alex Smith. Keep that in mind. Shanahan has more losing seasons than not. And abysmal ones at that.

Year 1 Hoyer
Year 2 JG, Mullens, Beathard
Year 3 JG (SB)
Year 4 JG and Mullens (JG hurt half the year)
Year 5 JG (NFCCG)
Year 6 JG and Lance.

I don't think u can compare Mullens to McNabb nor Smith for that matter... Not even close...when JG was healthy he made it to the playoffs both years. So you could say that with JG, Shanahan has made it to the NFCCG when he's been available which is the same as Reid...

We will see this year. Though I have a sneaky feeling JG doesn't care and is just playing for a cheque at this point.

Agreed. NFL players tend to play casually in their contract years….they don't have an incentive to perform

Ouch

There are snakebit teams every year due to injuries or just not living up to expectations. I fear we may be that team this year. Even with Jimmy we theoretically should be dominating teams with our talent. For whatever reason the offense is just "off" right now. We look predictable, teams are not scared of us anymore, our run game looks weak at times.

Or maybe Denver's defense was just that good and the O will look better this week?

I've watched their radio interviews on YouTube as I'm located outside of the Bay. These guys don't know anything and are awful interviewers. Someone like Cohn would fit right in with them.

I'm not a Jimmy apologist, clearly he is not the guy, but he has had zero time to gel with this years group. Yeah, they are essentially the same guys outside of the OL… but he was not working with them until a few weeks ago. My emotions settled after Sunday nights train wreck and I expect him and the offense to play better this Monday night.
Tons of turnover with offensive coaches and qb etc.

we are feeling it's effects now. Kyle needs more help on offense. Someone who is outside his box in the meeting rooms etc.

Agree on Belichick, disagree on Reid. He had the Eagles as perennial contenders before going to KC, where he immediately made the Chiefs cot with Alex Smith. I actually see him as a perfect comparison to Kyle. A great coach who will always have a winning, competitive team, but needs that extra IT in a QB to win the trophy.

Reid was the king of choke jobs. People love calling kyle that, but Reid didn't win a SB for over 20 yrs. He was always losing the big games to get him over the top. It's not like every QB Reid drafted became "the dude" either.

McVay could have very well been going that same route with Goff. Look at Pitt with Mitch right now 🤢 Payton only winning it all once in 15 yrs with Brees imo is a travesty. No idea what the hell GB is doing with Rogers. Tossing a bunch of scrubs at the play making position and telling Rogers to make magic happen.

A lot of these "good" HCs are tied to having elite or top level QBs for the majority of their career. You need that to be a big dog in this league. Almost winning a SB with Jimmy and being a couple mins away from going to another is pretty remarkable imo.

I remember kyle saying he wasn't gonna take the SF job (or any HC job) without having that established vet QB in place. Jed and Co. had to woo him into taking that SF job. They had to give him time to find that dude. Jimmy kinda just feel into their laps and wasn't really the plan. He did okay, but could have also set the team back at the QB position (played well enough to not move off, but no good enough to win it all). IMO we've been stuck in QB purgatory the past couple years…they bet on Lance BUT that s**t is gonna take time. Something fans feel like they can't allow to happen even though we've been waiting for a legit pro-bowl caliber QB for two decades.

He's had yrs to gel with all of his top playmakers and the playbook is the same…I'm sorry but that's an excuse. Be different if he hadn't been here since 2017.

I expect him to play better, but a lot of the s**t he messed up on is the same s**t he's always messed up on.
That's got to be better

No. Kyle needs a QB who can hit the layups when he dials them up.
It seems you win one Super Bowl and the decades of not getting there are washed away. To win multiple SBs puts you in the HOF. It's so tough to get there.

Yeah, can't argue with that
