As it stands now we are 31.5 mil over the cap for next year with guys like Dre Greenlaw, Deebo Samuel, Juice, Mac Jones, Keion White, Ja'Iayr Brown and Jake Brendel as UFA's.
There no way we could have made Nelson the highest paid guard in the league at over 25 mil a year and kept this team together.
I don't think you understand how the cap works in terms of restructuring and cap management. We could absolutely afford Nelson.
For one, there's no way Bosa carries a $54M cap hit next year. He will either be restructured or traded.
I don't think you do. They have Puni to pay also. Do you think they are committing that much money to the guard position?
I think they'll look to trade Puni and Renardo Green after the season

He will be 33 next year
The good DTs can still play at a high level until the mid 30s
They should give him a 3 year extension..
Exactly what I was thinking. He's already at 4 sacks this year. Give him a 3 year deal that takes him to 35. Buck gonna retire as Niner. Right the wrong we made several years ago.
I agree but with Osa, Collins, West, Halton and the rise of fan favorite Valdez I can totally see them letting him walk and take the 5th round comp

i would have liked the 3-4-5 for both nelson and buckner
but i do agree with lynch that what needs to improve the most is the defense. the offense can and should get by if we have purdy, cmc, kittle, evans and williams avoid injuries

Guys have to remember Brandon Aiyuk future money is still on the books. Hes not getting any of that. Combined with the cap savings from this year rolling over there is no over the cap issue.

I know he got hurt before the start of the season but Collins was trending in the wrong direction. Hope he can rebound. West shown very little. Halton & Valdez certainly have flashed but with Osa & Buck that's like a perfectly balanced room of up & coming youth, wise vet (Buck) & vet in his prime (Osa).

If the Eagles are selling why not go make a run at Goedert? He's an expiring contract and has a base salary of $1.3M this year. Would allow for some 2 TE receiving sets. Different way of making this offense explosive.

Great job with Buckner!
2 First picks for Wilson and we will defintely be SB favs along with having a legit WR1 for Brock for next 3-5 years (Evans as a WR2 will be able to play longer). There is no guarantee DRob and Deebo are even coming back after the bye. I never want to see Watkins, Cowing, and esp Cooks on the field again this year.
Our only great first round pick since 2017 has been the no brainer Bosa. Every single other pick failed to live up to the hype of a 1st rounder. The late round picks in 2027 and 2028 are far more likely to be busts than superstars. We pick way better in the later rounds anyways.

Can we trade away Nick Martin to Bob Saleh and recoup a 6th or 7th?
