Rams make a trade: "Well I guess Lynch will do nothing I we will be 1 and done in the playoffs"
49ers make a Trade: "Wow Lynch really scrapped the bottom of the barrel while the Rams and Seahawks improved their teams by 100%"
Couple Months Later: "Lynch made a great mid season trade that really helped the team in the second half of the season."

We need to hope Seattle and the rams don't make those trades because if they do and we don't or we go bargain shopping they will have the last laugh.

A single trade is unlikely to fix all the issues the Rams have right now.

They are not the ones I worry about.

For me "all-in" means: "Trade for an available player who can be better than those you currently have in his position, even if the latter are healthy. And don't worry about the compensation."

Some players will not be tradeable because their current teams need them more than draft picks (forget the outlandish part exchange deals - nobody WANTS Jordan Watkins on their team other than for free. Perhaps. Maybe. If the stars align). Or their teams don't want to absorb dead cap hits for any pick compensation. Or both. Or they may simply hate Lynch, or Jed, or the 49ers as a concept, or the colour of our helmets. So, forget about those.

But once such a player IS conceivably available go for it, for the resources you have.

Don't worry about "taking reps away from youngsters". The time to win is now.

Don't worry about "draft capital". The time to win is now.

For heaven's sake, don't nickel and dime with which round the pick you're trading will be in. Number of picks can be an issue (you're wasting the option of having more than one player in the future) but the round? Especially below the 1st round? Who knows where some college player will be pickable 9 months from now? Note, that this doesn't mean that multi-pick compensation is bad in itself. There's surely a happy medium between one and your whole draft as per Ricky W trade.

"All-in" is not a guarantee that you will win the SB. The player may get injured, or suck. Even if the player is fabulous and you get to the SB, your QB may overthrow him while wide open - AGAIN. Or he may be put on a chokehold while the referee is whistling a happy tune - AGAIN. Your stupid punt returner may muff a punt - AGAIN. You may sleepwalk for a half and find yourself 4 scores down - AGAIN. You may get a chance, but you refuse to run Frank Flippin Gore from the 5 yard linep - AGAIN.

Or a lot more things can go wrong. It's life. It's sports. If it were deterministic we wouldn't watch.

What "all-in" does is to get one more lottery ticket. One more spin of the wheel. In fact, everything that a GM does is exactly that. Only "all-in" means doing this now, in the hope of building on a cracking start to go for a title, rather doing it in April "to build for the future, through the draft".

I don't know man the NFL could be deterministic. They had CMC and Scary Terry next to each other on the poster for our MNF matchup and the final score was 23-17...
Can Deebo return punts when he comes back?
He's returning kickoffs. But that can go to Jordan James, primarily.

As for Buckner. I feel he'll cost a lot and does what Gracen Halton, White and Mykel are doing well. If Buckner really wants to play on a contender he'll be a free agent and free to negotiate and come back to the 49ers in the off-season without costing picks.

I think we need a clogger to team up with Halton/White/Mykel and to rotate with Osa on running downs. Something like this:

Bosa/ Height / Ogbo

NT / Osa / Valdez

Gracen Halton / White / Mykel

Mykel / Height / Ogbo

Short of Taylor there are not any RBs on the market that would really help Seattle more than what they have.

Yeah, but the injury score was much closer. I think it may have been a tie, or they may even had more than us (if that's even allowed).

also seeing as how we're in Atlanta this weekend it seems unlikely we make a trade this week, I honestly think any trade will be made at the deadline and not beforehand, we're off next week so I'd think week 9 which I think is the deadline so more likely they make a deal week 9 either Monday or the day of the deadline

While I agree trades usually happen when GMs wait until the very end. Didn't we trade for CMC and Sanders about this time, 3rd week of October? I don't recall if the trade deadline was earlier before, but trading during the bye week works best for us because the player gets a week to get their move/personal life in order and acclimate with our team before live game action.

I was reading the Gmen and the Vikings want Taylor badly. Hopefully the bidding is steep enough to block the Seahawks. I think they're banking on their #1 draft pick/RB and Charbonnet anyway. Their GM hasn't taken any big swings on the offense that I can remember.

The Vikings with Taylor, Jefferson and that D would be pretty scary

I still wonder if the Vikings are going to just throw three 1st round picks at somebody for a QB in the offseason, like Justin Herbert or Joe Burrow.

Heck what if they did it in the next 3 weeks?

It could be a long day vs the Falcons for our passing game.

Split End (X)- Jordan Watkins
Flanker (Z)- Brandin Cooks / Malik Turner
Slot (Y)- Christian Kirk / Jacob Cowing

Probably going to put Juice at TE a lot (he's basically been doing this) and use a lot of 2TE sets. I also saw them put CMC at slot a few times vs WAS with Black at RB. Also expect a heavy dose of run/play-action.

3rd and long is going to be a disaster as there's nothing reliable so have to stay out of that.

Garrett Wilson wouldn't be #4 or 5. He would arguably give us the best starting wideouts in the league and would be a sure fire #1 if Evans misses time.

I'd throw all my chips on the table this year. Every single one. We have enough young depth players we can afford to trade picks away for legit vets.

2027 1st, 2028 1st and Jordan Watkins for Garrett Wilson

Deebo and Robinson are free agents. Evans and Pearsall can't stay healthy. Stribling had a nice pre-season but we have seen this before. He's still an unknown.

BUT; if everything pans out and guys stay healthy good luck stopping this team in the playoffs with:

RB- CMC
TE- Kittle
WR- Evans
WR- Wilson
WR- Deebo
WR- Stribling
WR- Robinson

And then a 2027 group of:

RB- CMC
TE- Kittle
WR- Evans
WR- Wilson
WR- Stribling
WR- Pearsall
WR- Deebo (Re-sign)

Then trade a 2027 4th and 2028 4th for Deforest Buckner and we re-sign Buck in the offseason

DE- Bosa / Height
DT- Osa / Halton / West
DT- Bucker / Valdez / Thompson
DE- Mykel / White / Okoronkwo

Sam Okuayinonu?

11 deep on the line (maybe 12 if Sam O comes back) and that 2nd unit is better than half the teams starting 4.

Wave after wave of fresh pass rushers just like the Hawks and probably the biggest reason they won the SB.

I'm on the fence about it being a good idea to trade for Garrett Wilson. When healthy, the 49ers already have a logjam at WR, and Wilson is gonna be looking for a new deal ASAP. No doubt he's a good player, but Puni and Renardo Green are gonna be due for contracts next year, and both of them IMO are keepers, especially for Puni so Brock can have some continuity on the OL.

I also think Deebo will be back again next year on anothe team friendly deal- both the 49ers and Deebo are better for it, and he just doesn't fit anywhere else quite like he does on the 49ers.

I think in Stribling, the 49ers have a player who can be every bit as good as Wilson, possibly better, even as early as this year.

And the Jets won't let go of him for less than a 1st round pick. In a loaded draft class.

Is a 1st round pick enough to ensure that the WR room is BULLET PROOF for this run? That's the question.

All when they had JJ McCarthy right there lol.
All this Garrett Wilson talk is irrelevant because the Jets aren't going to want to trade him anyway.

When they did their firesale last season and traded Quinnen Williams and Sauce, they made a point that they are not trading Wilson. They already have three 2027 1sts after those trades, and they clearly want him for whoever their next QB is going to be. He's more valuable to them than however much a fourth 2027 1st rounder would be.

We can dream about Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Carnell Tate, Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase… but the other team has to actually be willing to trade the player.
