Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

About journalism; I watched a lengthy discussion between Maiocco and Barrows, two long-time friends and friendly competitors. They had a lengthy discussion about how NFL journalism has changed. They agreed that the hot news is now a closed loop between the NFL and national media.
They best the local beat guy can do is retweet what the national guys release. The local guy is relegated to color stories of interest to local fans. As a result, we now get all these "sources tell me..." which are 99.9% bogus.

Wilson is signed through 2030 with huge cap and dead money numbers for the next two years, Dead money this year would be the balance of $58 million. Next year $48,000,000.I can't imagine what would have to happen to bring him here. Maybe AB81 has some magic.

Its more the Jets not wanting those cap hits. Same with Olave. Not feasible for Saints.

Matt M is absolutely the right balance between the two. Couldn't agree more.

I hate Cohn, ESP after his Aus antics... Lombardi is clearly a fan, and need to learn the line.

MM has been giving it to me for over a decade, if not 2, (on the EC) Good and bad. Honest takes.

IMHO, he's earned the respect he's given by most.

Cohn ? That little runt would be working at McDs if not for Daddy.
