Kirk may or may not be an upgrade. He's had very little practice time with Purdy and Shanahan.

Robinson and Deebo will help, for sure.

Stribling won't be back until Seattle 11/29 at earliest.

They may be able to get by but there's definitely concern. The ATL came could be difficult without any WRs.

That's true. But even if we add a guy this week I doubt he will be ready to play against ATL

I agree. Probably best to gut it out this week. Hopefully Kirk can be the help we need and Kyle can scheme open a few big plays.

Getting Bosa back could be huge as well since Penix isn't mobile at all.
A decent punt returner would be nice too.

We are last in the league in punt returns and Cowing has 8 returns for 27 yards and a 3.4 yards per return.

We badly need a more reliable returner when the playoffs come around
Here are trade targets and what the cap hit would be for the 49ers if the trade happened this week.

Day 3 Compensation
  • Jauan Jennings, Vikings. How bad is the bridge burned?
    • 2026 - ~3.8M cap hit which includes 1.75M LTBE Incentives. 220k total in NLTBE per-game roster bonus. 3.25M in NLTBE Incentives.
  • Quentin Johnson, Chargers
    • 2026 - 1.79M cap hit.
    • 2027 - 16.468M fifth-year option (exercised, fully gtd)
  • Rashod Bateman, Ravens
    • 2026 - 1.539M cap hit. 2M in NLTBE Incentives.
    • 2027 - 8.25M cap hit. 3.5M is injury gtd. Fully gtd on 5th day of league year.
  • Josh Downs, Colts
    • 2026 - 2.616M cap hit.
  • Keenan Allen, Colts
    • 2026 - 1.23M cap hit. 5M in NLTBE Incentives.
  • Jerry Jeudy, Browns
    • 2026 - 1M cap hit. 2.625M in NLTBE Incentives.
    • 2027 - 22.9M cap hit. 2.625M in TBD Incentives.
  • Calvin Ridley, Titans
    • 2026 - 3.69M cap hit. 300k total in NLTBE per-game roster bonus. 6M in NLTBE Incentives.
    • 2027 - 22.25M cap hit. 2M roster bonus (due on 5th day of league year).
  • Amari Cooper, Raiders - Retired.
Day 2 Compensation
  • Brian Thomas Jr., Jaguars
    • 2026 - 716.67k cap hit.
    • 2027 - 2.794M cap hit.
    • 2028 - 5th year club option
  • George Pickens, Dallas
    • 2026 - 18.199M cap hit (Franchise Tag).
  • Chris Godwin, Bucs
    • 2026 - 14.67M cap hit. 2M in NLTBE Incentives.
    • 2027 - Club Option - 22M cap hit based on 20.5M salary and 1.5M roster bonus. 2M in NLTBE Incentives.
Day 1 Compensation
  • Garrett Wilson, Jets
    • 2026 - 2.05M cap hit.
    • 2027 - 24.5M cap hit. 10M option bonus is injury gtd. Fully gtd on 5th day of league year.
    • 2028 - 27.175M cap hit.
    • 2029 - 27.825M cap hit.
    • 2030 - 32.5M cap hit.

Here are some free agent targets
  • Equanimeous St. Brown - We've signed him before, so there was interest there.
  • Curtis Samuel - Position versatility (outside, inside, backfield). Injury history that makes him prime substation fodder to extend CMCs career.
  • DeAndre Hopkins - Old. Joined Georgia Tech coaching staff and is keeping in shape if called.
  • Gabe Davis - ACL tear in January and time table is about now for a return.
  • Zay Jones - Achilles tear in 2025. Signed by Texans in 2026 but released after they acquired Boutte.
  • Juju Smith-Schuster
  • Noah Brown

We probably just ride with the guys we have to get through week 7, get to the bye, and hope the substation targets other positions.
  • WR1 - Mike Evans - Ribs + Achilles. Kyle thinks not long term and hopeful for next week. Post-bye (Week 9) return most likely.
  • WR2 - Ricky Pearsall - PCL. Out for season.
  • WR3 - Christian Kirk - Calf. 21 day designated return window opened on Oct 15th. Week 7 return.
  • WR4 - Deebo Samuel Jr - Hamstring. Week-to-week Shanaspeak. Post-bye (Week 9) return most likely.
  • WR5 - De'Zhaun Stribling - Ankle Surgery. Late season return.
  • WR6 - Demarcus Robinson - Ankle Sprain. Post-bye (Week 9) return most likely.
  • WR7 - Brandin Cooks
  • WR8 - Jacob Cowing
  • WR9 - Jordan Watkins
  • WR10 - Malik Turner
  • WR11/PS - Wesley Grimes
  • WR12/PS - Will Pauling
  • WR13/PS - Xavier Smith
  • WR14/PS - Dante Pettis - Calf. Cannot be resigned by 49ers until injury settlement period plus 3 weeks have elapsed.
  • WR15/NFI - Brandon Aiyuk - Must be reinstated before week 13 otherwise ineligible for rest of season. Kyle's thoughts: "No."
Great breakdown. Some names are not for trade under normal circumstances: I don't think Dallas, Baltimore, Jacksonville or even Cleveland will sell.

Do you have the dead cap impact on the selling team? That's another factor that can make a trade very hard to impossible.

Perhaps we can ask some retired legend to come out of retirement like the Rams did with Donald? Is Jerry Rice willing to run routes at 60something?

haha i guess but we get multiple years...
We get em this year. Twice just need to add 1 dl and 1 impact receiver

F**k kc. Give Kyle the tools and he will toss that monkey off his back.

Hahahaha forgot to log out of your other account
And you keep tossing out baseless accusations and displaying your limitations.

A big time base run stopper? Sure, I'd love to trade for one of those.

Finally some sense. I've been saying get a run stuffer. We need a guy that can help the defense get to third and long so Height, Halton, Osa, Williams, White, and eventually Bosa can have more pass rush reps.

I am ok with the current line. It will only get better once bosa returns. Halton will continue to improve. Cj west should return and hopefully be better being health. We need a wr imo.
Downs or Godwin would be sweet.

if BTJ can't figure out Coen's offense, he's not gonna play here imo.

I think getting someone this week, have them play a couple snaps and have the whole bye week to get "caught up" might be the route to go.

still think we need another DL for depth, but that's a plug and play kinda roll vs WR.

im kinda there now as well. Honestly i am pretty happy with our pass rush I think Mack may not be a bad idea in case Bosa is out long term but i dont think its necessary now.

I am down to make a trade to make our run D from good to elite. Get a stud run stuffing DT. Earlier i was also against getting a WR but i think were at that point we have too many injuries i know we have a lot of help coming back and in a month our WR should theoretically look a lot better but i think we need reliable bodies there so i really hope we get JJ he knows the systeam already and can come in day 1

You have to take out some stuff from those cap numbers like any prorated money and then for 2026 depending on when traded for you have to prorate the base salary, if it's at the deadline then it's half of their base salary plus any per game roster bonuses and LTBE incentives

We need some reinforcements at WR. I am convinced after last game luckily none of our WR injuries are serious but our top 5 WR are all injured and we wont be healthy till what week 12?

Juan Jennings - I would trade for him in a heartbeat but the question is how willing are the Vikings who are also undefeated willing to help a team also fighting for #1 seed?
QJ- no way should he be a target for us
Rashod Bateman- Ravens are not trading him
Josh Downs - a solid trade target imo i dont know who will be up for sale though since he is a younger player
Keenan Allen- i think he will be for sale. Fits our system well too
Jerry Jeudy - no thanks
Calvin Ridley - i dont see Titans selling him they need to give Cam all the weapons possible i think there selling will be a bit older players on defensive side
BTJ - no way i see this get thrown around a lot he isnt good he is also scared to go across the middle of the field he is living too much of his rookie year and people have not seen him since
Pickens - lol they arent trading him
Godwin - Yes please
[ Edited by ritz126 on Oct 20, 2026 at 5:01 AM ]
I don't see us trading for a WR, we'll ride it out. Too many guys are coming back. Kirk, Robinson, Deebo, and Stribling all should be back within the next 4 games
I say getting Garrett will have biggest impact on the team, will keep our offense explosive and with he and Evans it's unfair, I'd go Garrett and Mack and call it good

you are dreaming i you think jets are trading wilson i keep seeing his name brought up has there been any indication Jets are willing to sell him?

Godwin would be sweet. I've always liked his game. lol would be funny to have both TB WRs. I know he's had injury issues but I haven't really looked into how bad they have been or not.

trade for skyy back too. lol fix the returner position.
