Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

Niners waived offensive lineman Zachary Thomas on Friday leaving an open spot on the roster. Coming so soon before TC, could this indicate an incoming signing? To the Oline?

I have a good feeling about Sigle; I think he's going to surprise a lot this season and lock down that FS spot

the issue is at best i think we will say our S spot will be ok and thats what i am hoping for that it isnt a liability. I really want a great S. Although a S cant make a bad defense a good one like a pass rusher or an elite LB i beleive a you cant have a great D without a S.

I will say at least our S is young so hopefully they can learn and improve

While I don't want to waste cap space, I also wouldn't mind having a few veteran pass rushers they could constantly rotate so we aren't pounding them. Also given our luck with injuries, the more the merrier.

He criticized the draft and called out John Lynch on the podium with a question regarding his opinion of apparently Lynch "reaching" on draft picks. It wasn't a bad question considering Stribling may have been available in the 3rd. I don't think that's a negative assumption by Grant. He praised John Schneider for his draft record and career and body of work as a GM. That's not being negative that's acknowledging success at an elite level. Same goes for Les Snead and Howie Roseman

"Considering Stribling MAY have been available in the 3rd. Sure. He may have been available as an undrafted free agent. But it isn't very likely. Read around, general consensus is that Stribling was not going to last. Except of course for Grant who just likes to slag the team off.
